I can't contribute anything helpful, except to wish you luck. I think it's wonderful to take advantage of any opportunity to live in a foreign country for a while when you're young. It's such a great experience. Mumbai wouldn't be on my personal list, but if it's on yours, that's terrific.

Awesome. I've never been but I have eaten a lot of Bombay Mix in my life. I've always wondered if its called Mumbai Mix everywhere else and its just one of those things the British try to keep a hold of after losing the empire.

Yeah, can't say Mumbai is high on my list of places I even want to visit, let alone live in. But I know someone who visited Bandra, and from what I understand it's actually a pretty affluent area.

Yeah, I'm all about absorbing different cultures. I lived in Namibia for 2 months and it's one of the best things I ever did. Plus like Mike said Bandra is meant to be a pretty happening area.

I'm gonna be working with the founder/CEO of Magic Bus (really successful charity). My old dear knows him through work and apparently he's real funny and kind, is eager to help me out and teach me shit which will be really helpful when I get into a career. (y)

This sounds very interesting. Just forget about where you're from and take in everything that you can.

Since you enjoy hip-hop, perhaps you can do a bit of side journalism to see if they have some undiscovered hip-hop artists.

I watched a documentary called Global Metal (http://www.fastpasstv.com/watch/3/330/1) about a journalist who went about exploring the metal scenes in different countries and there was an up and coming scene from India.

I don't know anything of Mumbai, I've had some coworkers from India but they were all from Goa and they told me of a Cashew Fest and they make various liquors from the cashews.

Other than that, take some pics and post them and shit.(y)

Thanks, mayne. Yeah no doubt I'll be getting some good snaps, the place is beautiful.

And I'll definitely see what the local music scene is saying, I got into a lot of African hip-hop/other shit when I was out there.

don't british people have a reputation for being xenophobic too though? i know loads of americans who are crazy about traveling and bragging about experiencing other cultures so if we're only talking about stereotypes here i'm not sure you ought to be

Oh no, British people love to travel to other countries. They love it so much they try to make them exactly as much like Britain as possible and open up egg-and-chip shops.

thats half the reason i dont wanna ever go to spain, might as well go to blackpool and not get burnt to a crisp.

even amsterdam, last time a group of us went over, i got moaned at cos i wanted to go to some places other than the coffee shops in the red light district that had SKy sports and english beer. I made them to trek to another coffee shop that was in a quieter area, i think it might have been called Johnny CoffeeShop, and that didnt go down well.

a friend of mine spent a month or so in bangalore and hated it. there were few to no traffic rules so he had to dodge cars and one time he was so busy watching out for cars he fell into a sewer. then he almost missed his plane home because the guys at the security gate just up and quit for 45 minutes for no particular reason. nobody said anything because they were pretty heavily armed. also the food was dangerous without a guide

maybe mumbai's nicer, i haven't been to india. i have heard that you shouldn't bother with deodorant on account of all the sweating you'll be doing so if you have any detoxing planned you may want to take care of it before you go

I'd love to see/visit India.

All my friends who've been say it is in India where they experienced the most vivid and extreme culture shock of any where in the world.

That said, they all enjoyed it.

Good luck!
