Since April, the news and world events have been all bad. It is so depressing I can barely stomach the media. Every story I read depresses me more than the previous story.

My next door neighbors, despite two jobs have gone into foreclosure. They want to try and get market value for their house so they can cover over half of their debt. The only problem is their are 30 other houses within a 1/4 mile doing the exact same thing this past two years.

How has your attitude been since BP decided to destroy our Gulf?

We as a general guardian of centuries of progress are idiots. We have let the very richest people on earth decide our fate without consequence. That is all I have to say.

In your defense there's nothing you -- as an individual -- could have done anyway.

Of course that's precisely the problem: individuals no longer have any real power unless they're rich or connected.

But if you're not one of the rich and connected, then you are, quite simply, irrelevant.

And there's really you can do to change that, because society is structured to keep you irrelevant.

Don't mind if I add to the bad news - 3 Gas Explosions in WV, PA, and TX today!?!

http://www.bakersfieldnow.com/news/national/95803344.html

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - A crew drilling a natural gas well through an abandoned coal mine in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle hit a pocket of methane gas that ignited, triggering an explosion that burned seven workers, state and company officials said Monday.

A gas well explosion in a remote hollow in West Virginia's Northern Panhandle burned seven workers early Monday morning.

"When we first arrived on the scene, it was just a big ball of fire," said firefighter Danny Moore, of the Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department

http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/060710-North-Texas-Gas-Well-Explosion

DALLAS - A gas line explosion in North Texas that sent enormous flames and plumes of smoke into the sky injured at least seven people, some of whom were initially believed to have been killed.

The blast erupted at about 3 p.m. at 2101 County Road 1120 in Hood County, near Highway 67, south of Fort Worth.

Odd - seven must be the lucky number for reporting, each report says 7 or so injured/killed.

This is fucking fucked up - what the fuck, for real- what the fuck?

Just because the media doesn't report good news, doesn't mean that there isn't any.

Think a little more local because that as a general rule is all you can change anyway. But if we all did that, the dots would connect and the world will change because of millions of individuals rather than just one so-called saviour (ie like some believed Obama would be).

Just think of all those people who give up some time to volunteer - how that makes the person(s) they are helping feel, that positive feeling could catch on to bring some wonderful things into their life.
Or
Try drivng less - walk more, realise you not so reliant on the oil companies to run your daily life if you're pissed at BP.
Or
Disagree with Supermarkets strangle hold on our food chain? Stop using them. So what if others still do but if one person does, it might catch on. I've used a supermarket 3 times this year so far - felt bad that I've had to but I think I've done pretty well as a new years resolution its only been broken that many times considering I was so reliant on them before.

One average person can't change the world, but millions can if we unite and all be a little less selfish - that 10% who own 90% of the wealth can't stop us all even if it has to be a long sustained assualt on the system, it'll eventually break. Want:Less. Be the change you want to see (Ghandi)

that cheered me up considerably, even if it isn't technically news

Some good news!

the lesbians raising well adjusted kids cannot happen unless Superman reverses the earths orbit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LBZsw5F66cQ) and my dad gets rid of his tallywhacker and has a mitt installed.

I have become so cynical and jaded at the news I am beginning to doubt if Superman even existed.

See when I watch the Today show and Obama says he's on it and he's talking to the experts to find out who's ass he's going to kick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAVFxy9jFe8)...

Then I read the paper the next day and one set of experts he's talking to is all cocky and spouts out shit like this...

BP Makes Case For More Oil Drilling As Spill Continues (http://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-20100609-703487.html?mod=WSJ_World_MIDDLEHeadlinesEurope)

I come to a conclusion that "News All Bad"

The call for increased transparency is unnecessary. That the wealthy intend to buy our government out from under us could not be more transparent. We probably should be calling for less blatancy.
