last word is september i believe

if i remember correctly though, the tentative september drop didn't come from the beastie camp.

They historically lead into their albums with press and performance. Would they need to do that again this year, or does last year's effort still count? I just can't see it dropping in September this year if the former holds true.

If it were to come out in September, it would be on the back of limited, year-old promotion, and no current shows. Very atypical for them. And it seems like the label wanted to back the shit too, so I'd be wondering what their preference would be.

Say Adam gets the all clear in the next few months (which of course is the utmost priority). Only then can they begin planning (key word) the whole release circus. In my opinion. Love to hear from somebody in their camp with an idea, but that's even less likely.

Isn't anybody here in touch with a PR or agent that can update us? I mean I run a few actor sites and I always contact their PR teams for updates on stuff like this. Anyway but to clear it up YAUCH himself said to Entertainment Weekly that the date they have scheduled for release if he is well enough is September so it came right from the man! :)

Yauch told Entertainment Weekly, "It was really disappointing to have to hold the record and postpone the tour, but doctor's orders [sic]. We may or may not [release it] depending on how my health (http://www.rttnews.com/Content/EntertainmentNews.aspx?Section=2&Id=1250095&SM=1#) is come September. We want to but we have to play it by ear."

He also told the magazine that the band will be reviewing the album to ensure it is their best work yet.

"We finished the record over a year ago, so we want to take a look at it and re-evaluate and make sure it is what we want to put out there and that we are still happy with it."

sept??? lol, like you said, not even a hope of news for us loyal fans, what does an email take...2 minutes?
how many hours a day is adam meditating? do the math and get back to me. Oh, and not to be cold but all this talk about health being the most important thing is a load of shit. deep down the only reason we want him to get better is so he can get his ass on stage and entertain us. 99.9% of us have never met the man and have no personal stake in his well being. REALITY people, just reality.

I just did a search on release dates for the album and Sept of this year is the 4th pushback...when it get's moved back againg I hope some of you stop drinking the koolaid and figure this out. Everyone is feeling sorry for Mr. Yauch but has anyone thought that with millions of fans worldwide many of those fans have died between last sept and now from car accidents, heart attacks, etc. I will spend my time grieving for those forgoten heroes. The ones that spent money all these years on BB albums so Mr. Yauch can even afford to get treatment and sit around meditating instead of having to drag his ass back to work. A moment of silence now for those that never got to hear HSC:(

there is something wrong with you.

I think it's inevitable that at one time or another, all of us have hoped, since last July after we heard the news about Yauch, that we would come onto the boards and see a new release date. Does this make us bad people because we want an album to come out even though we know Yauch was/is battling cancer?, in my eyes no. We all want him to recover and be healthy of course, because first and foremost, he is a son, a father and friend, and like many of us, he has many other roles just besides being a Beastie, but there is a reason why we care so much, it's because we have been fans for most of our lives, at least I have, and there is a vested interest in any of the boys as individuals and as a group, so of course we're all hoping for the excitement we will feel when we hear a release date, but deep down inside most of us know that there is a chance HSC will be delayed again or may not ever come out, at least I think so. I will admit that I have stopped checking the boards obsessively for any new release date updates and things of such nature because Im grateful for all the music the boys have already given us, sorry to sound cliche but it's true, if HSC never comes out, it would be ok with me. I can't complain about 25 years of having them release records and entertain us fans.

I'm sure someone will bash this, so let it begin.

I could have put up with them quitting pre-cancer, it's no big thing. I mean it would suck, but they 'quit' after Hello Nasty too, for all intents and purposes.

I agree with you FunkyDonkey except the part about them not releasing HSC at all. Considering it's a completed album and several songs on it have made their way out there I'd think they'd want people to hear it in it's proper form even if they do decide to call it quits.

FunkyDonkey28
06-14-2010, 12:55 PM
Agreed. I mean I do hope it gets released and many times I think the same thing, that it's finished and why not release it even if they call it quits? If they were in the middle of making it and then this happened it would be a totally different story.

it all has to do with a tour, since it is touring, not album sales, which makes the most loot cake. they set up the tour to coincide with the release of the record. my hunch is that yauch looks and feels ok (ok enough to pop up at events, gigs etc) but still is unsure as to what a worldwide tour would do to his health. Unfortunately, the boys don't have the appeal of the back in the day beasties i.e. pre TTFB, so releasing an album solely could actually have them lose money. again, i am not an expert, just a hunch. i do have to admit however, this silence is annoying. at least come out and say "we dont know" or why the delay, it is better than silence and constant google searches to see if a kid in wyoming knows more than me...no disrespect to wyoming heads

06-14-2010, 02:58 PM
I agree that I support their decisions no matter what too, but seriously I don't see why they would put blood and sweat into a 17 track album and Yauch in their Japan interview last year to say it will be the album to save the music industry and then for them to go out of their way and make a you-tube video announcement. If they were not going to go on as a band none of that would have happened. If anything, the boys will be missing doing their thing much much more with the long delay which I think is only going to prompt Yauch to take the best possible care of himself. Showing up at a few events is nothing compared to a big tour and it was March that he last made a public appearance. I am just not worried, I have a good feeling news will pick up soon. ;)

I think it would come out even if they quit, its kinda finished. This isnt "Smile" by the beach boys. I dont think any of the boys are too proud to release it even if its not been re-remixed/mastered whatever.
Who knows they might even throw in a bonus disc of meditation sounds purely for those cynical annoying twats amongst us, or maybe a usb with a guide on how to make annoying posts on message boards, thats a good idea isnt it Sour Funk?.:p

The BB's aren't known to just throw their hard work out there and let anything happen. I am 100% convinced its not released because they are making big plans for the release, a tour and promotion. I don't see it any other way, call me Ms. Optimistic but nothing from their behavior or interviews indicate to me that the band is ending. :p

Well I mean contingent on the fact that he is well. But see none of us know exactly what that status is. He could be well and they could be making plans or he might not be. My thing was just that whenever that day is whether it is September, November or even 2011 I just think it will happen no matter what. But again once he is fully recovered.

I understand that MCA needs time to heal and rest, and I have absolutely no problem with that, but a few little updates or nuggets of information would be nice once in a while. It seems like this complete silence is worse than the normal "Beastie Silence" between albums, because at least in the past they had some other things going on to check out.

Put up some samples from the album, put up a website for the album saying "Coming Soon", ... anything. Or at least change the website in some way instead of it just being an advertisement to buy the re-releases. I come here all the time to see if there is any news, and there is never anything. Small little updates would really help keep people pumped for the new album, whenever it comes. The message board has become dead, with the biggest topics being about tee-shirts being sold at Target. Give us something to talk about, listen to, read about, look at, anything!

"Some" was a grammatical filter. After that point I was addressing those people.

False sense of entitlement is a pretty common phrase which frankly I can't be bothered to explain. If I have to spell out the progression of simple grammar to you I doubt you'll get the concept, anyway.

I'm thinking that he means the ''false sense of entitlement'' is meant in the manner that we feel it is owed to us that we be informed and updated about Yauchs' health and the release date of HSC.

Personally, I don't think I am owed, entitled or should be told anything in regards to Yauch or anything Beastie related. I think that myself and most of us fans, and I am not speaking for everyone, this is just an assumption that most of us are just curious. Simple and plain, nothing more nothing less. It doesn't mean that we are insensitive or we don't care about Yauchs health, of course we do. It's normal to be curious about a release date or how someone is doing and feeling, especially if that someone means something to us.

When I do choose to hit the boards to see whats going on, I don't get mad when there is no new news, I don't expect to be priveledged to get any inside info.

Curiousity kills the cat thats all.
