...and for the heck of it, how do you rank Pixar's full-length movies?
This is where I'm at, roughly:
Toy Story 2
The Incredibles
Toy Story
Up
Ratatouille
Wall E
Finding Nemo
Monster's Inc.
A Bug's Life
Cars
I have tickets to take my 3 year old on Father's Day. I think I might be more excited than him---not really, he is a big Toy Story fan. The jail break storyline looks funny and the first meeting between Ken and Barbie will also be good for a laugh.
I have rented or bought him every Pixar movie with the exception of Ratatouille. I saw it but I have not had a chance to rent it for him to watch. I recently rented The Iron Giant directed by Brad Bird (he also directed The Incredibles & Ratatouille). It was fantastic.
Anyway, with a 3 year old I try to watch as many good movies as possible so Pixar is definitely on my radar although I watched some long before I had a son.
Here are my rankings (I have to say that it is like splitting hairs)......
1. Toy Story
2. Monster's Inc.
3. The Incredibles
4. Toy Story 2
5. Finding Nemo
6. Wall E
7. A Bug's Life
8. Up
9. Cars
10. Ratatouille

Interesting how different people's lists are. About the only constant is Cars at or near the bottom.
TOY STORY 3 gets a 7.5 from me, so I voted 8 because it closer to 8 than 7.
I actually got a little restless here and there, and Woody's insistence on slavish devotion to Andy for EVERYONE was a little creepy at times. The movie does pack a wallop though. I was trying to discreetly wipe my tears.
I gave it a 8.5 which rounded up is a 9. I really like the entire Toy Story franchise and this is right up there with 1 & 2. The jailbreak storyline was very creative. I loved the fact that the toys from the rainbow room would sneak up in a snack machine to gamble and the catepillar room premise was very funny. Big Baby was creepy yet funny as the goon baby with a heart. The cymbal smacking monkey was hysterical. The Ken doll scenes were classic. Go to this site to see some more funny Ken stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTfxrnuCjdA
All in all as usual the story was creative and the script was heartfelt with very funny lines and scenarios. I did get teary eyed. As a parent I can atest to the fact that is sad to see the kids grow up. My son is only 3 so I have a ball watching him pretend and use his imagination. I think we are all kids at heart so it hits on many different levels.
Toy Story is a great movie and franchise. Maybe, they will create a 4th movie. Who knows? We can only hope.
Oh, and I liked the Day & Night short that ran before the movie.

I would say 7 because it was kind of a rehash of Emily storyline from Toy Story 2. It was very cute and I enjoyed it, but I didn't think they had a lot of new stuff.
Oh, and I loved the Mr. Tortilla Head. (y)
I kind of thought the same thing but I give Pixar a free pass. Lotso was this film's Stinky Pete and the jailbreak idea was similar to #2. I still liked the film and the story was funny, exciting and heartwarming.

Toy story is something very close to my heart. As I watch my own son grow out of playing with toys (he played with toy story 1 & 2 stuff) I found I connected with the characters in a very deep way.
Got me thinking about being a kid, feeling bad as to how fast it goes by, and how we as dads need to be sure to take time to enjoy that creativity and joy with our own kids.
Overall it was a brilliantly done movie. Its nice to see pixar come so far. I gotta say this one is tied to toy story 1 for first place for me.

This movie was virtually perfect. I gave it a ten. Like all Pixar movies this was very touching and sweet. The near-end was emotional but I had a big smile on my face at the last 10 minutes.
So far, best movie of 2010.

What a great movie and finish to the series! You could see the improvements in animation and detail as well. Awesome new toys, we loved Trixie. Ken is such a tool.....as any little girl would know.
Was this the first time we saw Andy's mom's face?
That one scene was intense, it truly messed with my head!

^awesome!
Loved it. Wish I hadn't read reviews in advance, but I still enjoyed it a lot.
1. Up
2. Monsters, Inc.
3. Toy Story 1
4. Toy Story 3
5. Finding Nemo
6. The Incredibles
7. Toy Story 2
Sadly, this isn't complete because I've never seen Ratatouille all the way through (:() nor have I seen A Bug's Life. Wall E was ok, and Cars didn't do it for me.

word, Cars never did it for me as well. I think it is the only one I could care less having in my collection.
I wish I had a list, but I enjoy the movies when I watch most of them including Bolt

Wall E had a great message about inertia but was pretty on the nose. Plus the inert characters were by definition pretty unappealing.
Ratatouille was a pretty good movie with an ending that just soared. Raised the whole enterprise to the sublime.
Cars does nothing for me.
Wall E started off great. It was almost 'indie' in it's approach. The problem was that they brought in the humans and their story and I thought it interfered in the tone of the first half an hour or so (n)

Yup yup. The first half was arguably the best movie of the year. And in culminated in that gorgeous shot where he runs his hand through the space dust...

I knew wall e was going to be good when one of the braindeads at work said they watched for an hour and "nothing happened".
Ratatouille is a cracker, lot different from the other stuff, the only problem is that because the storyline and script is a bit more grown up and subtler that my 4 year old gets a bit bored with it so we always end up turning off.
non pixar animation: Bolt is wank. I liked monsters vs aliens a lot, its getting heavy rotation in our gaff at the moment and its still making me smile.

How to Train Your Dragon was really good.
not seen it yet but heard good things. We have to wait for dvd's in our house, my eldest isnt quite old enough for the movies yet although toy story 3 will be our first outing there i think, although it will no doubt involve about nine trips to the bog and will probably still have to wait for dvd to see it in full!

We have a theater here that sets aside one showing a week for the very very young. Diaper Tuesdays or something like that. Basically,
you know that if you go to that particular showing, there could be all kind of ruckus, and that's exactly what it's for. (y)

If I was a lot more emotional, I would have needed some Kleenex.

Yeah. A level-headed friend of mine said he thought the ending was really sappy. I didn't know what to say, because I was choking back tears.

I wasnt mega emotional, the wife cried. My daughter was very quiet in parts. The moment in the incinerator, i thought there was a possibility of at least one of them not making it out and was a bit worried there would have to be some serious explaining to my daughter to do. But overall, it was good had a very different feel to the other two, the start with the renactment of the first ever scene was cracking.
I cant think of a better film that had 3 at the end of it.
