There was a pretty bad fire in an estate near my house yesterday (it's pretty rough, one of the highest violent crime rates in the country) and this kid from one of the most notorious crime families in the area rescued a baby from the burning building. God knows if he really did save it out of the kindness of his heart or whether it's a setup but he's being touted as a hero in the London news.

It's pretty amusing to me and everyone else in the area as he's literally one of the biggest scumbags in England, he stabs and robs people on the regular and has probably killed old ladies for drugs before, yet here he is (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/10622913.stm) playing the heroic bystander role (and pretty convincingly I might add). Hilarious.

Do Americans say 'nick' in that context? I liked your usage of it, Echootar.

That would be a negative sir. Knowing that Padster is from the nation we told to take a hike in 76, I wanted to make some sort of English slang reference to stealing. Having grown up with a number of BBC comedies and my amazing skills with the internets, I was able to come up with and confirm that "nick" would be appropriate in this case. Apparently I was correct based on your praise.

I also learn a lot of my British speak from listening to a lot of Flock of Seagulls songs.
