A guy on the bus today had a folded up nwspaper sticking out of his bag from precisely two years ago. The story was about how McCain
was nearly tied with Obama.
This article from the same day has McCain ahead 1%:

Anyway, happy birthday, Sir.
Change in Washington is hard, innit?

Then a few weeks later McCain announced Sarah Palin as a running mate. Amazing history, I always admired John McCain, even with all of the spoiled brat stories that appeared during his campaign you cannot deny his service to our country (http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/amex/honor/). I really will never understand the Palin pick other than somebody else forced it on him. It doesn't add up.
McCain will be 74 on August 29, Obama is 49 today.
So yep HBPBO.

I think it was his pick. I think the party wanted him to have a female candidate to draw some of the knee-jerk Hillary fans who
were petulant that she didn't get the nomination, and Palin wasn't properly vetted. I'm betting he had somebody else in mind
and, at the party's insistence, he pretty much just took an almost random pick out of spite.
I never had the impression that he liked her, but she did seem to be his choice. It was weird.
I called it as soon as she was announced, though. Right here on these boards, I believe. "He's finished."
i think that bringing sarah palin into the spotlight has had a more destructive effect on america than if he had picked a different running mate and won the election. between a john mccain president and a sarah palin who won't shut up about mama grizzlies or whatever i'm not sure which one i'd rather have...

The years passed, mankind became stupider at a frightening rate. Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections....

Europe have CERN and most of us believe in evolution still.
Obama seems to of aged about 10 years - how long has he been president? Whose next? and who'll be first to say afterwards which was worse - black or women president? Thus any forward thinking gained is taken back another 200 years ;)
