In the new Entertainment Weekly they review A Film Unfinished. In the side note there is a picture of Yauch and reads.
BEASTIE BOY-BACKED
A Film Unfinished is distributed by ex-Beastie Boy Adam Yauch's Oscilloscope Laboratories. After the MPAA gave the Holocaust doc an R rating for "disturbing images" and "graphic nudity", Yauch called the decision "bulls---" and filed an (unsuccessful) appeal seeking a PG-13 rating.
Is there something they know that we don't?

Wouldn't surprise me.

your title makes it seem like Yauch quit. Not true. I will go %100 for his films, although some of them have kinda sucked.

It's probably just sloppy journalism. Like we'd know one way or the other, though.

This is BS!!!!!!! I wouldn't believe it. Definitely sloppy journalism. They didn't do their research and so they assume because he is distributing films that he isn't with the BB's anymore.

Who me lol? I am fine! I just get annoyed when journalists do things like that.

I get it. There's nothing worse than people writing with authority on things they're quite clueless about. I'm with you. :)

Crap journalism.
Nobody fact-checks anything any more. Despite the fact we live in the greatest era of Information access in history.
I heard he joined westlife.
Its not like journalist to get things wrong tho

Probably just one of those schmoes that doesn't realize Beastie Boys made songs post LTI.

Wouldn't surprise me.
Honestly, me neither. Doesn't anyone else think it's a little odd, all the tweets, the email, the interviews coming out of OScope; yet nothing regarding relevant Beastie news, let alone any news with regards to HSC?
Just saying......
It's cool though, after all I've gotten growing up as a fan. Beer party's and girls to trippy underground that everyone hated to the shit raw diverse punk grooves to the coolest fucking band on the planet to a bit of a letdown for me to wife/kids/career and pretty basic but still fantastic album that yielded the best show in Berkley I've ever seen them perform with my wife to some decent instrumentals and to the most exciting track to come from them in a long ass time Lee Majors. Hey, it's been an awesome ride and if the train has stopped then it is what it is and thanks for so many memories and best of health to all.
Still pretty fucking weird the lack of any updates and/or news especially after the youtube thing?!?!

^Yeah. Hey guys I'm sick and the album and tour's going to be postponed. I'm a humble dude. One of the humblest. I'm sure they won't want to know anything else about me.
Uh, yes we kind of do. Of course, the fact that we aren't hearing anything leads me to assume you're all thinking about calling it quits. Uh, but then all my time as a fan reminds me that you've always maintained you'd never 'announce' the end of the band.
So, you know, I really don't know. And nobody does. And since we got one youtube video we want more and that's our isssue to work through. So all the best.

Been a member of the BBMB for only 4+ years, but lurked forever on the site, they are f-ing notorious for first giving out info to everyone else, then us... You'll never hear news about them here first it seems. I've got no problem with that, but if I want Beastie news, I never think to go here first. Google News would be a better choice.
Rumors, innuendo, good fun, yeah, I'll check here, Whatever. I'll take news where I can get it.
MCA is still a Beastie, Always will be, even if only in my book.
Three MC's And One DJ! MCA will always be one of the MC's that made my life more fun and interesting. I'm positive he's got quite a few years left in him.

Also he's like a founding member, I find it rare for any founding member to give up something they initially put together.
Interesting as I was watching their Charlie Rose interview from a few years ago they mentioned the fact that they've been able to stay together so long because of the space they've allowed each other in between.... Most bands work work work with no break and end up hating each other and call it quits early on. I love that the BB's have been able to stick together all this time. :p

Sadly, MCA has left the Beastie Boys and is joining the guys from 311.

There was a good article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/aug/19/bands-split-pixies-lcd-soundsystem) about bands splitting, or not splitting, on the Guardian the other day.
I think the Beastie Boys are kind of like Radiohead; it's almost like they break up every time an album is finished, then reform again for the next one. Also, both bands seem more interested in actually making music than becoming a marketable brand or a stadium band or some other crap, unlike say U2. Man I hate U2.

In my experience journalists often get facts completely & utterly wrong, most are lazy and with the internet they can be lazier than ever in writing their 'factual' stories.(n)
Does nt take much to get everyone panicking around here!
Don't believe everything you read!;)

No news is no news. They'll be back together. They were busy together for a long time. TT5B, tour, AIFST, SGH, TMU, tour, recording HSC plus whatever other stuff they have going on.
Yauch's health forced them to take a break and that's what they're doing.
They've never been much at just saying, "yo what's up...we're just laying low...we'll give ya an update in 6 months or whatever..."
Patience...all in due time. In the meantime I've been loving this version of Slow and Low! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG5YohG2nls&feature=related)

Thanks for the article! I agree with your comments and I am glad I am not the only one who hates U2 lol.
