robinho in milan for a medical. looks like 15 mil euros for a permanent deal.
hunteelar sold to schakle for 13 mil euros.
looks like boriello might go on loan to juve.
selling hunty, and the purchase of robinho and ibra = a net spending of 26 million euros.

borriello to roma.
quite the summer signings. added some depth in the back with yepes and socratis, along with boateng in the mid. the team is much deeper this year. they can go deep in the champs league and challenge for the serie A.
deadliest attack in europe along side barca.

Don't underestimate Parma with a 'trident' consisting of Giovinco - Bojinov - Marquez with Paloschi and Crespo on the bench/
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Av2KBTbz_dI (after about nine seconds)
We kept the backbone of last year's team intact and added some gems like Danilo Pereira, Paletta, Gobbi and Ze Eduardo.
All of this is seriously getting my hopes up!
Having said that, Robinho, Pato, Ronaldinho, Zlatan and that old fox Inzaghi is an impressive attack.
No clue how one would field them properly though. They potentially have a team that scores four a game but concedes five.

wow i didn't even know giovinc's moved to parma. juventus management are smoking some serious dust this summer. giovinco is one of the italys top young playmakers and he couldn't buy a sub appearance at juve, and then they let him go on loan but with the possibility of being sold for so little. especially when they sold deigo for a 10 million dollar loss. what the hell are they thinking?
that said parma's attack looks pretty decent. i've always been a fan of borjinov, hopefully he can get back to how he was before his injury troubles. been a long time crespo fan, i hope he succeeds. is paloschi still milan property?
and on milan, i do agree there may be some problems finding a formation that can get all the players on the pitch and still have cover in the mid and defense. but the possibilities of the attacking football they can conjure up is tantalizing.

It wasn't only the fact that they sold Diego and Giovinco, they also didn't buy a real star player. The best part is how Di Natale, Borriello and Burdisso declined a transfer to Juve, the first to stay at Udinese and the other two to end up at Roma.
that said parma's attack looks pretty decent. i've always been a fan of borjinov, hopefully he can get back to how he was before his injury troubles. been a long time crespo fan, i hope he succeeds. is paloschi still milan property? He's had a very good season for us last year. He looks back to his old standards and he was so grateful to Parma for giving him a chance after two years of injury trouble that he only wanted to come back to us (we had him on loan from City as you probably know). We've now signed him in full.
Crespo is Parma's all time top scorer... it was nearly tear inducing to see him back in our squad. Even if he won't score 20 a season he'll still be a very good role model for the very young attack that we have now.
Paloschi 50-50 between us and Milan. Seeing the investments they've made this season we might end up owning 100% of him next summer.
and on milan, i do agree there may be some problems finding a formation that can get all the players on the pitch and still have cover in the mid and defense. but the possibilities of the attacking football they can conjure up is tantalizing.Absolutely. Despite my intense hatred for Berlusconi I can't seem to all out dislike Milan.
I want the new Sampdoria shirtI've always liked Samp's kits.
Speaking of the kits, some of them are just plain odd this year...
Can't find the overview someone sent me a while back but for example the Milan kit now has wider stripes.
Weird. Not nescessarily in a bad way though.

i was just joking about questioning your game analysis. you could have probably picked anyone else and i wouldnt have said anything, but i am growing more and more aggravated with seedorf. i feel he does next to nothing on offense (or at least not enough to justify his the following..), doesn't come back to play defense, and is constantly losing possession; by bad pass or touch.
today is actually a pretty sad day for me. all accounts have ronaldinho on his way back to brazil :( he is probably my favorite player ever. at his height he was unstoppable. the things he could do were a thing of beauty. he had the best tricks/vision/passing/control all combined into one player. like c.ronaldo/xavi/pirlo/messi all rolled into one.
on the up side it looks like cassano is defiantly coming to milan (on a cut rate deal. whither you care for milan or not people really should praise them for their shrewd business dealings in the transfer market compaired to the man cities and reals of the world). which in the footballing sense is better. ronnie just really appears to not want to work hard anymore. he just wants to party. cassano will fit in well behind ibra and robinho/pato. this will also force that bum seedorf to the bench.
but we really need to bring in some defenders. the offense will be one of the best in europe but not even the best offense can win every game for a team...look at barca v. inter CL semis last year.
really looking forward to the second half of the season!

looks like milan have signed Urby Emanuelson from ajax. 24 y.o. left back/midfielder/winger. and are still looking at a few other prospects for the back in this transfer window. for 1.8 mil apparently too. good deal.
i love ronnie but getting 3 mil for him in transfer plus the 5 mil saved by not having to pay his salary is big. off loaded guch to twente saves a mil. get cassano on the free is huge.
milan are the best in the transfer market hands down. they do not waste money, and constantly get good deals. they are like jews.

i agree with this in part. the only problem being, ibra. and by problem i mean blessing. he is the Serie A BEAST. just pummels defenders.
he also needs to be the focus of the team(part of the reason ronnie was not playing/forced out). the problem with borriello and hunty are they are both similiar players in the fact that they are the point man, and do not really create goals but score them. however that is ibras job, and for the most part hes playing 90 minutes and almost every game (although ibra is also quite good at creating goals as well as scoring them).
both of those guys wanted regular football and they just would not have gotten it at milan. i would have liked to keep at least one, but they would have been purley a sub for ibra, and behind the pecking order of pato/robinho/cassano for other attacking positions.
not to mention pippo was there too for the perfect sub to ibra. scores goals still at his advanced age and did not demand playing time. a shame he got hurt, although he is supposed to be back in march.
i dont know much about Urby. give me the low down synch, please. :)

The thing with Borriello, Huntelaar and I guess Gorcouf as well is that they were let go for a relatively small sum and they are now doing great at their respective teams.
Huntelaar is a fantastic player, they should have stuck with him longer. I understand the choices though, you can only field 11 players and you can't keep too many big players happy on the bench.
About Urby, Ajax youth player, started out at left back but has a great left foot, which got him pushed further up the field on many occasions. He's pretty much a left side wild card, he can play left back, left midfield or on the wing in a 4-3-3 formation.
Has had his up's and down's but all in all is a quality player. He's scored a few fantastic goals in his time.
This is his weak foot :) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKNXBAdGA_c)
Compilation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B__Umpxn1qo&feature=related)
He sometimes tends to wander out of position though, which is especially bad when he's supposed to be in left back, but with enough cover behind him or without defensive duties he can be absolutely lethal.
Going to miss seeing him live.
Oh and Ibrahimovic is satan.

The guy has skills, but he has a mean streak that is just amazingly blunt and blatant.

He once injured three players in an international friendly, two of which were teammates, and one of which was van der Vaart, who at the time was in the starting eleven ahead of him. Zlatan started the next Ajax game with van der Vaart in the stands.
He's also well remembered for taking out two players in one jump by elbowing them both in the face.

o ya i forgot the real reason i came in this thread today, you got my thinking off topic synch!!
milan have signed mark van bommel from bayern. a decent signing. (doesnt help the old folks retirement home image as he is 33!) but none the less it was needed cover. we started tiago silva and alexander merkel in midfield with ambrosini last week. a center back and a primavera player. not going to be winning cups doing that sort of thing for more than an emergency situation.
im not really a mvb fan. but he is a hard tackler and a runner, and we need 3 of those type of players to sit behind our 3 forward/attackers who do not defend much.
pirlo, gattuso, flamini, prince, mvb, ambrosini, strasser, merkel, seedorf, and urby now for those 3 positions. but seedorf, prince and urby can play in the more advance position.
we still need an outside back or two!!! im not sure if they are planning on playing urby there.

cant agree with lumping him in with those players. I understand what you are on about, attitude, love to hate etc, but every single one of those players backed it up by a lot of match winning performances, lots of individual skill, good team play etc. He hasnt done enough, sure he has won stuff but as part of teams with better players, he's never been the stand out shining example of quality in any team he;s been in. just sayin.

He's a cross between Gattuso and Pirlo, he has the vision and the technique to open up play of Pirlo combined with the toughness, aggression and provocation of Gattuso. Both my parents are Italian, but I was born and raised in Amsterdam. Spent a few months a year in Italy growing up though. Basically I'm Italian from Amsterdam :)
Started supporting Parma when I was in high school. Kids would annoy me any time that Ajax played an Italian team, even though I wasn't into football at the time. Nothing serious, physical or particularly vicious, but annoying mostly because I had no clue what they were on about.
First Ajax beat Torino in the 1992 UEFA cup final. I didn't even know that the game was on, but that didn't stop me getting crap for it :)
The next year Ajax was drawn against Parma. This time they started right after the draw and when the game came I decided to watch it. If I was going to hear about it then I might as well know what the hell was up. First game in Amsterdam was 0-0. The return game in Parma was 2-0 for Parma, but they completely dominated the game. Ajax didn't stand a chance and everyone was happy that it was only 2-0. One of the guys at school even turned up with a Parma scarf the next day :D
Started following them ever since.
As far as supporting Ajax: I love going to live games and, well, living here that's pretty much the best option. Didn't particularly support Ajax when I started going, but you don't go to lots of football games without getting attached to the team.
To complete the list, in 1996 Parma made one of the most unforgivable mistakes that they could make, which was letting Zola go because Ancellotti didn't believe in the number 10 position (which is ironic considering the players he fielded over the years, but he was just starting out as a coach).
Zola went to Chelsea where he joined Vialli, Di Matteo and Gullit, who had just become player/manager there. I started following the Premiership since the start of that season (Chelsea in particular) because of them and when Zola joined them I started supporting them.
They were a scruffy mid-table team back then, and thanks to Abramovic's millions I actually need to qualify supporting Chelsea :)
Honorable mention: Florence being my second home I have sympathies for Fiorentina as well, but if Parma play Fiorentina then there is no doubt about who I support.
Hmmm, this post turned out a lot longer than I intended :)

Thats cool. Funny how we end up choosing our teams sometimes. My father is an Inter fan. He grew up in Celano, a small town outside of Rome. He grew up in the 60s when Inter had some great teams. Im a Milan fan, become aware of football in the late 80s early 90s...go figure. My brother a couple years my junior is a Juventus fan, who had a good run in the mid/late 90s. I guess im lucky I had RAI pumping into the house at a young age!
I know tons of kids who are Arsenal and Man U fans, who did not start actively watching and supporting the sport (even though they played it, which is a main reason for American players being behind the rest of the world...How can you be good if you don't watch the best starting at an early age?!) until later in life in their late teens which happened to be at the turn of the century. Which of course is when Henry and Arsenal were doing well and Man U started to get back on the European scene.
I've always been partial to Chelsea because of Zola, he was a wizard.
All in all good to see another fan of the Campionato!

so what you're saying is that your family are a big bunch of glory hunters? cool.
dude when you pick a team when your like 4 or 5, thats not glory hunting.
the guys i know my age who are man u and arsenal fans are glory hunters. thats part of my disdain for the two clubs.

Milan sign Didac Vila from Espanyol. (http://www.goal.com/en/news/11/transfer-zone/2011/01/27/2326612/espanyol-milan-agree-deal-over-defender-didac-vila-report) Hopefully he is an improvement over Antonini. Clear intent to win some trophies this year with the way the summer and winter transfers have gone.

yizzer. for 12 mil. sampdoria have wrecked their team. letting go of cassano and pazzini like that.
this kind of relates to the post i just put in the epl thread. pazzini one of the better italian forwards, and hes young is sold for 12 million. newcastle on the other hand wants 30 million for andy carroll.
and this is after luiz suarez, one of the stars of the last world cup, is bought for like 25 million.
 ?!?!?!?

milan beats catania 2-0 today.
mark van bommel got a harsh second yellow today in his serie A debut and was sent off after 55 minutes.
milan really was on its grind today and will need to be again on tuesday against lazio. we may be without 13 (yes, thirteen) first team players (12 injuries, almost all in the mid, and mvb with the suspension).

milan ties 1-1 to tighten up the scudetto race today. they were poor frankly. they are relying too much on Ibra, and he is playing 90 minutes every game. He needs a break this weekend before Spurs.
Napoli is on fire. Cavani, Lavezzi, and Hamisk have formed one of the best attacks in europe. Check them out if you get a chance fellas.

look at this filthy goal amauri scored today. filth. yuck. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owHoAVtoDws) had another one to tie it up today for parma against roma.
this is on top of a nasty bicycle kick he did in his first game for the club after his loan from juventus. no training wheels. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwNUX6elffk)
this after the guy didnt score once all year for juve before that. starting to look like his palermo days. maybe hell get back in with the azzurri
big game tomorrow Milan v. Napoli with only 3 points separating the teams at the top. going to try and get out of work early and catch the end. FORZZAAA.

prince on a draw back from pato.
pato on a great curler from the top of the 18 upper 9.
3-0.
biiig plus having prince back. some speed in the mid who can attack and gets stuck in. pato had a phenomenal game. with prince in the mid against the tots i think we got it.

considering i am the main contributor to this thread has mainly turned into an AC Milan thread. but i'll still throw in some tidbits from other teams.
im not liking milans chances against tottenham.
for 1. bale is back playing.
for 2. looks like prince is out. twisted his ankle on sunday against juventus. along with him ambrosini is out hurt. pirlo is out hurt. gattuso is suspended. van bommel, cassano, and urby are all cup tied.
that does not leave much in the midfield. not much of anything to be honest. flamini, seedorf (god no), strasser and merkel. both still teenagers not ready for this stage.
needless to say im not holding my breath to move to the next round. might be better to just concentrate on serie A and enforce the midfield and wingbacks and come into next year looking to fight on more fronts.

awww yeaaaa. 3-0 demolition of inter today.
pato 2 goals.
cassano pentaly at the end.
seedorf had his second good game of the season today. and a good time for it. van bommel was also excellent. abiati made a tremendous world class save on eto'o in the first half.
good performance all around.

there was an awesome video that got taken off of youtube that had gattuso with a mega bottle of champagne. like massive. just spraying everyone. it was pretty funny.
this is how zlatan parties (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CgyJR-1LYvE)
now next year for the CL. already announced the signings of mexes and taiwo for next year. sures up center and left backs. now hopefully we get ganso and another midfielder and backup center forward and we are ready to challenge barca.
