...in the USA, anyway.

Surprised it's not more widely recognized considering how many kids are being raised by grandparents these days...

-- at the fourth store, I finally found a "Happy Grandparents Day" selection.

I noted a little sadly that more than half the selection was of the "Thanks, Grandma" variety, and one card was "Thanks, Grandpa."

The only grandparents I have met were my mom's mom and my dad's dad but they both passed away when I was young.

i tend to assume that kids are the ones getting cards for grandparents, and they are more likely to draw up their own instead of purchasing one from a store.

I almost went that route, but these folks already have some of my art, so going out and finding an appropriate card would actually show more effort and hopefully be even more meaningful.

Hopefully.

Well, it's in the mail now, anyway. :)

I've nearly posted twice in this thread - both times being very cynical of the day.

Both times I've deleted. The second time I wrote this what I am typing now.

I don't have any.

Me neither. Mine died when I was young and I remember it being totally alien to me when other kids said that they did this with their grandparents and I thought, that's really unfair, why do my mum and dad treat me so bad in not letting me have grandparents to get treats off.

Heh. Now I have no parents either so if I have kids (unlikely) but it'll be the same child cruelty...

...oh wait, my partner still might have parents. I need a partner now. With parents. But I don't want kids, unless she does. Hmmms.

Not sure why grandparents get their own day...I thought they were considered part of fathers and mothers days? I always used to give my grandma a card on mother's day.

They should just have Great Grandparents Day, when your kid's kid has a kid and you're still alive, you oughtta have a day to celebrate you.
