Buy Paul's Boutique, put on the headphones, listen to the album in it's entirety, then on the second play through, start reading this book..

The Beastie Boys' Paul's Boutique (33 1/3) (http://www.amazon.com/Beastie-Boys-Pauls-Boutique-33/dp/0826417418/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283920237&sr=1-2)

The book you were talking about:

Beastie Boys: A Musical Biography (The Story of the Band)
http://www.amazon.com/Beastie-Boys-Musical-Biography-Story/dp/031336558X/ref=sr_1_6?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1283920332&sr=1-6

I'm going to assume that the Jonathan Zwickel that authored this book is the writer from SPIN Magazine (http://www.spin.com/writers/jonathan-zwickel)?

well, I've never read it, plus I know I'm not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but this one looks pretty weak. "The Story of the Band"? Sounds and looks super cheesy, generic. Plus, anyone who uses an LTI era photo as the main cover image, I feel, is missing the bigger picture.

i dont know what you've read, if any beastie literature, but in my opinion, Paul's Boutique 33 1/3, Rhymin and Stealin (by Angus Batey), and The Beastie Boys Companion: Two Decades of Commentary (by John Rocco) were the most enjoyable/informative efforts I've come across.

Thanks for that, I have just ordered Paul's Boutique 33 1/3 and will look forward to reading it
