Beastie Boys Vh-1 Greatest Artists List...

We have been discussing this on a BB face book fan-page and I thought why not post it here too. What do guys think about the fact that Beastie Boys were ranked at number 89 on VH1's 100 greatest bands of all time?

I guess I shouldn't feel too insulted as other great artists of previous era's got horrible ranks too while stupid mediocre pop acts got higher on the list.

And question, if you were in control where would you place them on the list?

Yeah we were talking about how the list must have been compiled by a bunch of young amateurs who don't know music. In fact MTV and VH-1 sold out to reality and are less about music these days so I don't trust any POLLS they put together. And then watch when the BB's new album comes out they will act like they've been supporting them all this time. Sorry I get riled up about this stuff lol and I hate VH-1 and MTV on top of that.

Any Top 100 Artist without Old Blue Eyes (Sinatra) really isn't a top artist list, in my opinion.

My feeling is that music, like all art, is subjective. The list would be different for every individual, gathering votes in polls in other years would yield different results, which makes it pointless.

I've never been a fan of lists like this, as music to me is a completely individual thing. But I will say that this is the worst "all time" list that I have ever seen. Saying Beyonce is greater than Public Enemy is like saying that Steve Nash is greater than Michael Jordan. They aren't even in the same fucking universe.

Good God what a pathetic list. First of all, I can deal with The Beatles at #1, but I would place Michael Jackson at #2 with Elvis Presley at #3 & the Beastie Boys NO lower than 8 NOT 89! Such an insult it makes me sick. THIS is what's become of our music world?? I'm just gonna keep being thankful we HAVE Beastie Boys so we don't have to do without TRUE music artistry by all-around TRUE Musical Artists!!! :mad:

'The made their career as Beatles rip-offs' is one of the most over-used and misguided views in music, regarding Oasis. Half of the bands on that list are indebted to fab four. Anyway I'd put the Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode and certainly the Kinks at least 20 places above their original positions, but christ, I'm ashamed to fuel the fire of debate over lists such as these! Yet I can't help it...
