Jim totally dropped some hard questions on you... Previous entrants to the "Twenty Questions" seemingly had way easier questions.. You did good in my eyes. (y)

Gotta say I love Jim's podcast. Usually learn a little something each time. Hopefully he keeps this thing going for a while.

Gotta say, calling Ill Communication a cookie cutter Check your Head doesn't make it any more true.

one of the things that makes this podcast 'gold' is not only does it give the beasties their props but calls them out (disappointment ep) as well....that coupled with Jim's cred makes it fan-like rather than fanatic based....

I always use to say that the ones who support you through thick and thin are the first that have the right to complain about stuff because at the end of the day they are still gonna be there no matter what. ;)

Not sure what your point is - just saying IC and CYH might follow a similar pattern but as albums they're day and night. Just a point of difference, nothing more. (y)

Not sure what your point is

that the podcast is an open forum.....i didn't have to worry about being negative....nothing was edited out unlike every other bboy website.

most if not all of IC was recorded during the CYH sessions....there's no way they could have released CYH in '92, do a tour, go back into the studio and start from scratch only to release IC in '94....so in that sense it was a cookie cutter.

Kid Presentable

Nah the 2 recordings sound completely different, most of it was recorded in 93, never ever seen any indication that any of it was recorded during CYH sessions (which went from 90 to 92). Same mics on some of the songs, granted. I always understood it that many of the ideas came from the CYH stuff, but that they recorded it all fresh. Case in point is the Gratitude outro from the live version on Sabotage/Criterion Collection becoming part of Futterman's Rule.

I see your point, but a) they came out quite different and b)it's not a bad thing in any case.

True about the podcast, I think you were replying to my earlier post so I fucked that one up.

CJ - you sound like Ricky Powell.

KP - have u emailed Jim to get on?

CJ - why do u sound like Ricky Powell?

KP - I disagree with the cookie cutter comment as well. The word that always comes to mind with CYH is "raw", but in the very best sense of the term and that is a compliment to the artistic merit of the album front to finish. IC to me has always been a stuffed CYH, like a Thanksgiving Turkey, but sometimes u just want the dark meat without all the other shit, and there's about 4-5 too many tracks on that platter.

CJ - speaking of shit, u said the word "shit" like 3 times during ur interview. I thought Jim said no bad words; then again Jim said the word to me when reading wacky Lee Perry's 1 guy and a lot of cups rolling stone article when i was on; regardless u sounded like Ricky Powell when u said it!

i picked up Ricky's twang during our 5 minute convo in July....and cookie cutter isn't a 'bad word'.....out of all the albums, those 2 sound the most alike!

...agree, they do sound the most alike.

I picked up the rappin w rickster DVD and pretty much had a very personal mini-Ricky-marathon after everyone was in bed sat; wierd but everyone now sounds like RP...and I'm in California.
