This (http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/musicblog/2010/sep/08/kings-of-leon-radioactive-video) is just tripe. It's shitty, by the numbers stadium rock. It's a U2 B-Side.

And to think I thought Sex on Fire was as low as they could go. I honestly cannot believe this is the same band that wrote Spiral Staircase, Molly's Chambers, Trani etc. What a fucking fall from grace.

The worst part is it's destined to become encrusted in our brains through television, radio etc. through overplaying.

musically, i've heard worse.but it is even more of a departure from their earlier stuff. There is no grit or balls anymore.
The fact that they are cheerily playing with kids in the video is a sign that rock n roll is further from their minds.
the whole package reminds me of "Every little thing she does is magic" by the police.
i know a couple of people who are very upset about this single. I dont mind a catchy riff but i completely understand the hardcore KOL fans being upset about this

I dunno. All those other songs you listed were pretty goddamn mediocre as well. I guess Trani is all right. I mean, why is a U2 b-side that much worse than Strokes b-sides with a touch of southern flavor?

I'm surprised by how un-cringeworthy this song is. I mean, its not like I would listen to it voluntarily or anything, I'm obviously way too cool for that. But still, I've heard a lot worse. This is about on-par with about everything else I've heard from KOL.

Sorry freebasser, you know I've got to disagree with you on everything. No hard feelings?

They definitely had some good tracks. Not my favorite, but some really good shit. This, though...it really sounds nothing like their older stuff. Overproduced. Though it also was a departure, I actually kinda liked Sex On Fire.

And Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic FUCKING RULES AND I WILL FIGHT YOU.

FOR THE RECORD, BEFORE ANYBODY ELSE STARTS OFFERING ME OUTSIDE:

I did not say anything disparaging about ELSDIM. (that took me longer to abbreviate than i thought). I made comments about KOL track being sub standard. I love the Police and that song. I just thought that the feel of the song and the look of the video reminded me of when The Police were buggering about in Monserrat in that video. The Kings of Leon track is not a patch on The Police track, i just got a similar feel from it. The arpeggio type riff thing, the ups and downs of the song and the video. Appreciated, this is a personal viewpoint and apologies if anyone thought i was having a go. I wasnt and have made a mental note not to even mention The Police again:):p

The song's not actually that bad. overproduced yes, but it's not that bad. the gospel is unneccesary though.

with a different producer this song could have been as good as any others they've done. The way they're going is just a progression. Obviously with the new producer they brought in for the last two albums their label is pushing them toward superstardom but their progress hasn't been massively altered i don't think. if they'd just made youth and young manhood for the fifth time, i think i'd be even less interested.

On the basis of their first two (maybe three) albums, theyre one of my favourite bands, though.
