I must agree with you there. LOVE them. I was too young to see them live in the '80s and always said I would max out my credit cards to see them reunite. Was psyched when that happened back in 2007. Saw them at both Fenway shows here...then was right up front at Croke Park in Dublin!! (y)(y) Had the pleasure of meeting Andy Summers at a book signing just a few months before the reunion announcement.

Some of my fave tunes include Bombs Away, Masoko Tanga, Bring on the Night, Driven to Tears, the Bed's Too Big Without You, So Lonely

Grew up listening to them because of my parents.
Still love them.
I broke my 'no stadium gigs' rule to go see their 'mortgage tour'.
Great experience!

Got to far up his own backside, agree about Police though. Had some quality tunes
Sting was brought up about 40 mile from where I live in England, pretty sure he was a school teacher before he hit the big time

Sting was originally trained as a jazz musician so I guess he never really wanted to rock out. I am a huge Sting fan...but over the last 2 years his solo stuff is laaame! Dude, put down the lute.

true - even his covers of Police songs stinks.
def dig about 10 or so songs of theirs - grew up with them, have Synchronicity on vinyl, but the anthology double cd covers most of the memorable tunes.

The box set is the way to go with the Police. They've got some really nice B-Sides and deep album cuts. "Once upon a Daydream" is pretty badass.
Sting made some really beautiful music in the period right after the Police broke up, it has more of a jazz influence but is also very reminscent of Synchronicity
These are all off Dream of Blue Turtles, Branford Marsalis and Eddy Grant (remember "Electric Avenue"?) played on that album.

All good stuff. Made me remember why I love this band. I strayed away for awhile...but looks like today I must pop in some tunes. I was disappointed with Sting's choice to tour the summer with an orchestra...didn't even go.
And I agree....Sting's solo stuff right after the Police was great. The live album Bring on the Night is genius.

i remember really liking stings set at Live Aid but after that i have never been impressed much. I've always liked him in interviews even though he weirds me out a bit. But definitely echo the step away from the lute theory.

So how come there's been no mention of this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPwMdZOlPo8), the best chillout tune ever made? One of the most mellow basslines I've ever heard, shit is soothing as hell.
