If you've heard "Power" and been keeping up with his weekly "Good Friday" drops, you'll know that Kanye is back to his soulful best, both production-wise and lyrically. I have to admit I wrote him off a few years ago around the time of Love Lockdown and the autotune shit, and although Graduation was a good album it wasn't hip-hop and a large part of me thought Kanye would never bring any quality again. The couple of singles since Power (Erase Me grew on me, See Me Now isn't amazing but not a bad song by any means) and these Good Friday drops have pretty much put that thought to bed.
If you haven't heard them already, check the Good Friday tracks here (http://kanyewest.com/GOODFridays/) (and every Friday) and his label's recent Good Ass Mixtape right hurr (http://usershare.net/tbv1zu5techo) (it's the blue Download button).

The young upstart Big Sean gets my coveted "LOL Of The Week" award for this couplet on "Good Friday":

"Good Friday," beat is my type of shit for reals. B-A-N-G-I-N. Like hearin' Pusha on the beat too. Thanks for the heads up...didn't know this stuff was availalble. What was the title of the track that he did at the VMAs tonight?
On a side note I don't know how you can categorize "Graduation" as anything other than hip hop.

'Good Friday' is excellent.
EXACTLY the type of stuff I love that Kanye used to produce.
As you say I hope this is the way hes gone again.

I think he's just an "Artist." Anyway, I thought that "look at ya look at ya look at ya look at ya" sample from that track was tighter than spandex nikka.

From some of the shit you post on here, I don't think you even know what hip-hop is. Learn something. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxPm0TZcqHU)

Oh my bad, TI and 50 cent.....the first of whom is almost as good at R&B hooks as he is rhyming and the other who in his prime was singin' damn near every hook. Gotcha.
If you spent as much time doing something productive as you do trying to be an asshole on here you would probably be worth a fucking shit.
On KRS...I like Boom Bap more than anything. That's my shit too. But I'm not gonna pigeon hole hip hop, and although the clip is old....KRS just comes off bitter like a motherfuckin' Jim Rice of hip hop or some shit. I guess Kanye should just come fake instead of coming from HIS real.

KRS-One used to make great music. These days he's a proper maniac, between his crazy Temple of Hip-Hop Christian madness and his New World Order Obama is a puppet rantings. I wouldn't listen to a thing he says these days. He's proper nuts.
And lest we forget he spear-headed "Stop The Violence" and there he is bigging up 50 Cent over Kanye?
And Graduation is hip-hop. How can it be anything else? It even has Primo doing cuts on it....

kanye is always interesting to listen to. maybe not always top quality but he does his own thing and you have to respect that. even tho he can be an almighty arse at times

A hall of fame baseball player who "hates" on current players because they have more money and financial/worldly success than he did back in his day.

So in other words, absolutely nothing like KRS-One talking about what he believes hip-hop is and isn't.
Don't get mad just cuz you're about as hip-hop as diarrhea.

krs one is a senile fool these days.
Lex Diamonds

He's not senile, he's just a bit of a relic. He came up and shaped himself in a time and place where hip-hop was pure hip-hop, in the truest sense of the word. Hence why he's so concerned with staying true to the 5 elements and the music, and doesn't have time for all these new artists (well, the last decade or so) who are making dance, R&B, etc and selling it under the banner of hip-hop.
Bottom line is, you don't have to agree but you still have to respect the man. He pretty much IS hip-hop.

Runs DMC
De La Hole
Eminemmaeroid

Whilst i sorta agree with this statement, just because someone is an elder statesman in their field that doesnt neccessarily make them the best placed to comment sometimes. I maybe wrong in this case but i just thought of the outlandish stuff Pele has said about football, he was the greatest (probably) but he's still full of shit.

This album is on my horizon since it was announced that Justin from Bon Iver/Gayngs recorded a view tracks for it that may or may not be on it. Looks like Monster with him on it made it.

I never said Kris was always right, or best placed to comment. Just saying that I would agree with him over pshabi about pretty much anything.
