I need a new job. Where I'm at is getting too gay for my likings. We are not spec ops anymore. We are now doormen. The new rule is if we're standing at one of the 2 main posts, we are supposed to greet everybody that walks into the building with a "good afternoon" or "good evening." There are thousands of people walking into the building too. This new rule has been created by our new head of security. He's not aware of the fact that once you pay attention to all the people walking in the building, you're not paying attention to what's going on outside.

Regardless. I have my resume put into many federal jobs. I'm hoping for air marshal. My status is "resume recieved" with them and that's been since March. I also have a resume in federal corrections since November of last year. I do , however, have an exam to work for the state corrections next month and I know my foot is already in the door because I have 2 years of state experience already.

This is my rant. I'm getting old and I need a real job already.

With your training and experience, how come you're working security jobs anyway? Criminal record??

The job I'm at isn't just a basic security firm. Only ex military can get hired and also you need combat exp. Trust me, we stand out if you walk down Wall St. I wouldn't even waste my time if it were just basic security work.

But now, we have been through so many new managers who can't get a grasp of who we are and what we do that it's basically narrowing us down to be regular guards. I can see a pay decrease happening if they keep this up. And we get paid very well.

Also, no record. The last ticket I ever had was in 94 for speeding. 75 in a 55. Gotta keep that shit clean, yo.

Have you investigated oppurtunity's in the private security/body guard/professional driver field?...I would think you could apply your skill set more apporpriatley, with greater enthusiam and much more interest/investment...plus you could wear sweet suits, raybans and talk into your cufflinks...(y)

There's actually an executive protection opening at my job right now. Get to drive a e550 and the whole nine yards. Thing is that the hours are shitty and you barely have time off. The people doing the work aren't too happy so I don't think I want to do it.

I'll check how the benefits are on other companies. It is and interesting job.

I don't know if you're using USAJOBS.gov for federal jobs, or even if you reside in the US, but no one I know has had any luck with that site. Half the time I don't even know if my application was properly submitted because their system is shit and makes you take some stupid bubble 'personality character' test that you can re-take/change answers to get a higher score.

I probably have applications in there from Oct. 2009 and never got one email back - not even "sorry, you didn't get the job," or "no, you fucking suck," or "thank you for submitting your application" nothing. It's just all a bunch of numbers and procedures. I gave up on that site a while back.

Yes I am using USAjobs and yes, their system is complete shit.

Back in 02, I applied for Federal Corrections straight on the bop.gov site and had a job interview 3 weeks later. Unfortunate for me, my credit wasn't that good so they told me to fix it.

Now I applied on USAjobs and it's been almost a year and no response.

For the air marshal, I applied right away for it and no response yet and that stupid personality test fucks everything up. I'm definitely certain that I am well enough qualified for the job and if not, can't they just email and say I'm not?

can't be wasting those precious federal dollars sending emails, you know!
