Distinguished gay college musician commits suicide soon after sexual encounter is broadcasted online by roommate

http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2010/09/hold_new_rutgers_post.html

PISCATAWAY — A Rutgers University freshman appears to have killed himself by jumping off the George Washington Bridge after his roommate broadcast live images of the 18-year-old having a sexual encounter with another man on the internet, according to campus and law enforcement sources.

Dharun Ravi, 18, of Plainsboro, and Molly Wei, 18, of Princeton, were charged with two counts each of invasion of privacy for setting up a camera in a dorm room on Sept. 19 and using it to view and transmit a live sex scene, said Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

They better be forced to register as sex offenders as well - he never gave them permission to do this, it is sexual abuse. This has gone beyond a little prank...a life is gone because of it.

In school for about a month and he was outted already. I had no idea of the amount of stress or mental torture being a young, insecure, gay man still in the closet. I always thought, hey if your gay be proud about it. I guess he wasn't ready to come out. And certainly live gay sex over the internet is no way to come out the closet.

The flip side to that is the other kids were 18 year old freshmen too, they probably had no idea what they did would have these kinds of consequences. Think about it your away from your parents for a month and this shit goes down? Dam.

People can be modest in their sexuality or gender identification, not everyone is into voyeurism or exhibitionism. Obviously he was traumatized by this cruel invasion of his sex life, but it doesn't mean he wasn't comfortable with being gay (I refuse to use proud - sexuality is not an accomplishment) He just didn't want to share it with strangers on the internet and probably felt betrayed and couldn't cope.

I know many heterosexuals who keep their sexuality and intimacy to themselves - doesn't mean they aren't proud or comfortable with their sexuality.

Flamboyant homosexuals are about the most obnoxious, rude, and crude human beings on the planet and I won't pretend otherwise.
