When i went on holiday this year i took with me Paolo Hewitts book "The Changing Man" about his former best friend Paul Weller. The book doesn't really break down the reason they're no longer friends, or if indeed the book itself is the reason why the relationship broke down. It is a very interesting read and covers Wellers career from the the The Jam up until 2007-ish. One thing i will say its obviously one sided and doesnt always paint PW in the best light but by the end of it i still felt PW seems like a cool guy and like all of us has his moments. I hope one day he does an auto biography so we get to hear things from his perspective

Anyways the book inspired me to dig out all my Weller solo material, which then lead me to putting together a mix to listen to on my journeys. I was trying to fit it all on one cd length mix but that was never going to happen. So broke it down initially to his first four solo albums ; Paul Weller, Wild Wood, Stanley Road and Heavy Soul. Again that was nigh on impossible with b-sides, remixes and live joints to factor in as well. So this is part one with part two from that era to follow at a later date

please enjoy
