View Full Version : Murder Mystery
Thought where else to ask but the BBMB! Oh, hey.
I was given a part to play in this Murder Mystery dinner-thing my bf's friend is hosting. I get to be the Molotov Cocktease/Russian spy-whore, and I'm nervous because I only play a good whore on the Internet. I've never done one of these before and am like abuhbuhbuhwut? The only details I was given for the part other than the part is to wear a black dress, I have a gun (probably a decoy), and my name sounds cool.
I freak out over the littlest things. Yeah. Any of you play a murder mystery thing before?

Just what I wanted to hear :"\ Take it I'm gonna have to roleplay? Can't be like "yo" after every sentence? Don an accent? Fuck.

it's no big deal. obviously it's more fun to get into character, but you don't have to be an oscar-caliber actress to take part.
I went to one once where we didn't dress up or anything, just did the parts. It was with my boyfriend's old college pals that I'd only met once before, so kinda awkward to begin with. I turned out to be the murderer and the booklet told me that on the first page. I'm a pretty bad liar, so I was scared the whole time that I'd just blurt it out. I did alright though, only 1 person guessed it was me.
I think some of them are better, where you don't know you're the killer right off and there's more to the mystery. Sounds like yours is more involved. The one I went to only lasted about an hour to everyone's surprise. Then we were forced to make awkward conversation for another couple hours while eating snacks.
one time i went to a clue party which is exactly what it sounds like. it was cool except there was a "movement" mechanic where you had to stay in certain rooms until you used a turn to move to another one. and someone could use their turn to summon you to a room to ask you a question and then you were in that room. i just hung out in the kitchen (where the beer was) and used my turn to summon my friends there even though they didn't have any information i needed
i didn't win

He mentioned something about rooms too. Just noticed the character stuff came from game-something.com. Tempted to cheat, heh

i dunno if its like this anymore, but in high school my gf's step mom showed us a video of a murder mystery party she went to on a boat somewhere upstate. everyone dressed the part, like they were in the 20s(?). i think it was one of those boats with big spinny things in the back, a riverboat. she was the type of step mom that would smoke joints with us and tell us not to tell her dad...
she claimed that everyone on these boats smoked weed, did blow and got kinky 'n shit. she was also a recovering wiccan/black magic/whatever the freak type who wore black all the time and smoked cigarettes out the bathroom window. she was not an attractive lady.
