The Beastie Boys in a rap beef. I think it would restore a lot of their vitality, as well as making them relevant and reminding a lot of people what they've actually done for the hip-hop culture. They've sold 40 million records... who can fuck with that?
They throw battle rhymes around all the time but there's no menace in them... I'd like to see them switch up on someone and actually go in. I think Adam could write some really sharp disses, Yauch has the badass bigger brother attitude going on and Mike... well he's not as combative in his style but I reckon with the encouragement of the other two he could bring some beef- he's as hip-hop as it gets, at least.
Prof Booty is maybe the closest they ever came to real diss record, I would really love to see them go all out and end somebody's career. At this stage of their career, what's to lose anyway? Most of the community would back them up.
If they need a target, how about a general "Death of Autotune"-style record about the state of rap? After that somebody is sure to pop shots at them and then it's game time.

"Hey Fuck You" and "Too Many Rappers" were to me, big shout out's/jabs to lame rappers, do you know if anybody fired back?
"You people call yourselves MC's but you're garbage men
Takin' out the trash when you pull out the pen"
"All these crap rappers, they're rappin' like crabs"
They've got beef with rappers "rappin' like crabs" but in all honesty, The Beastie Boys will never be "Gangsta' " so any diss track will never result in a shootout in a club. It's like trying to fight with a mean Teddy Bear, in the end it's you against a Teddy Bear. Beastie Boys being the Teddy Bear everyone loves. Really who out there would talk shit about them. The only people I could think of would be some young buck that has no idea about their history and their history in Hip-Hop maybe trying to make a name for him/herself going up against some of the pioneers.
I agree it would be fun to watch from the sidelines. But I don't really think they need the stress of battling some young unknown rapper trying to make a name in the game.

Those lines were exactly what I was referring to when I said they "throw battle rhymes around all the time but there's no menace in them". Those rhymes are instantly forgettable braggadocio, not beef.
And rap battles aren't about being "Gangsta"... they're as much a part of hip-hop as scratching is. I wasn't suggesting they battle some young unknown, it would be better to see them take on someone musically established (like the Canibus / LL Cool J beef) but shit, at this point I would like to see them go in on anybody so fuck it why not? If they shut down Soulja Boy or someone it would be good for hip-hop AND their career.

If they shut down Soulja Boy
Now you're talking my language! ;)

What? Didn't you just say they don't need the stress??
I declare beef. It's on now, bitch!
Too many Rappers: 'So get your hologram on off of Wolf Blitzer'
Wasn't this aimed at Will I am? I think BEP would be a worthy beef.
THEY ARE KILLING THE CULTURE MAN!

I don't think it's in their nature to publicly dis and "end someone's career". They don't have to prove anything i would like them less for that.

whilst i reckon they would have the humour for it, i think it'd come off more as constructive criticism now. They too old and too wise to get involved in any of that shit.
I think it would have been great earlier in their career time for them to let fly at some one but as silence said, no ones really had a go at them so why bother.
I think if it happened it'd be relatively big news if it was a big target, because it would be so unexpected and i do think they'd bring a new element to it all. It'd prolly be one of the funniest diss raps but again they'd just over do it on the gags and start getting really random and it'd be in danger of losing focus.
Its a nice idea padster but i think its time has passed although i think the lets have a dig at the state of rap isnt out of the question, they have deffo touched on it enough times

I like the way they do it in Too Many Rappers or just indirectly without going out of their way to piss somebody off. I enjoy the clever lyrics they use in reference to other rappers. Its just enough but not too much. It’s great. I also believe just as many of you mentioned that they don’t even have to do it. Their presence alone and any new album, material they put out will automatically make those other rappers take their hats off and BOW. BOW DOWN suckers!! BB’s rule. I am toooooooo cheesy I know lol.

They're above that. It'd be like Morgan Freeman proposing a fist fight with Shia LaBeouf.
Although I'd quite like to see that.

Do rap beefs even exist anymore? Does rap even exist anymore? Who knows. I like Padster giving effort, but I don't agree. They are too old for beefs.

Yeah rap beefs exist... so much so that a lot of artists even (attempt to) make a career out of them. People like 50, Dipset, the L.O.X., Joe Budden etc. are constantly involved in some kind of beef or other. Shit, even Lupe & Kid Cudi have a few beefs running at the moment. A lot of the time the current state of rap just comes off like WWE to me, like it's all a big pantomime designed for the kids to sell records.
Having said that, a real rap beef between truly skilled opponents can create some of the best and most exciting hip-hop there is. See KRS-One vs. MC Shan, Dre vs. Eazy vs. Cube, Pac vs. Big, 50 vs. Ja Rule*, Jay vs. Nas etc.
*Yes believe it or not, these 2 used to be skilled. Look it up.

Beastie Boys vs. Creed

Beastie Boys vs. Creed
Beastie Boys -vs- Blink 182
Beastie Boys -vs- THE SPIN DOCTORS
Beastie Boys -vs- Live
Beastie Boys -vs- Vanilla Ice
Beastie Boys -vs- Limp Bizkit
The list could go on forever, there's tons of shat bands that the Beastie Boys could DESTROY in a battle... It would be fun to see them shout out like 20 or so in one track and just make them feel like ants under Gulliver's feet. But I don't think they're into that kind of schoolyard crap talk.
