Seriously?

November 12th - it's been close to 60 degrees all week and they have their house covered in Christmas lights and those reindeer with the heads that move and that plastic santa and snowman. Thanks for looking like a fool weeks before Thanksgiving.

I fear Clark Griswald has fucking moved in, I better move my stereo equipment and put some thick ass blinds up.

That's my worst nightmare. I leave for India on Monday and don't come back until the 22nd so am hoping to miss all the build up crap. I love Christmas but can't deal with all the fuss beforehand. And everyone is getting duty free for presents and they can stick it if they don't like it.

It's bad enough the X-mas is upon us at our shopping centers, but people doing it on their homes is just straight overkill. By the time Christmas comes the fun of it is loooooong gone.

and I love Christmas decorating, but I am adamant that it doesn't start in my home until after Thanksgiving.

I went to the DMV today to get tabs, and they were playing Christmas music at a slightly louder than normal volume. I had to sit for 30+ minutes with screaming kids and "Santa Baby" and other gems.

Made me wanna get drunk on egg nog and watch that "GARBAGE DAY!!!!" Christmas horror movie.

i wonder if at some point humanity's going to just collectively get tired of christmas music and say "let's just not do it this year". does anyone actually like it at this point? kids maybe but they're stupid, even if they are the future

my neighbors across the way never even took their Christmas lights down, so they're all set for this year.

I'm willing to bet a very large percentage of the demographic age 18-45 agree with you. That kids are stupid. :D

I have two houses on my block like that, one family is from Nigeria and the other are fresh from Japan. Now that they have become Americans I guess everyday is Christmas as well as everyday is "No Yard Work Day".

funny, maybe it's an immigrant thing? because all of my neighbors are from Mexico or any country in South America.

If you ask me, it sounds like your neighbours have marriage problems and they're trying to fix it with "Christmas spirit" and mistletoe and wine and all that shit.

Buy them a vibrating cockring this Yuletide and really love thy neighbour. (y)

yeah, but if no one tells them you're supposed to do yardwork, they won't know.
otherwise, they'll just do what they did in their previous country.

i heard a story om npr about a woman who worked with immigrants to help them become americans and she found that if she specifically told them that they need to keep their yards neat, they cleaned up and kept it clean.

also, i live in a mexican/puerto rican neighborhood and people's yards are immaculate! except for mine, a white lady owns my house.

how da hell did we get into immigration from premature X-mas decorating!?!

Anyways - went out to play with my son and he is adding MORE lights.

If their perpetual decorating from Halloween (every day they were adding stuff) is any indicator, I'm guessing we'll be blinded by X-mas.

joy to the world

Maybe the church that both of these families go to every sunday can tell them as part of a good christian it is respectful to take down your jesus lights and negativity scenes before martin luther king jr.'s BD on january 15th.

And while they're speaking of the righteousness of the "proper christmas flare removal dates" perhaps they should throw in mow the lords grass once every other week rather than once every other year.

The 3 families of weekly church attendee's on my block have the three worst looking yards. And the bizarre part is two of these families have teenage kids. When I was a teenager I was sentenced to yardwork every Saturday morning, until it was deemed done. Of course I had the power of weed working for me but that's a different story for another time.

Both houses have those icicle lights too, they look like shit even when it's the holidays, so there is nothing discreet about mossy dirty white wires dangling all across the outside of your house.

In 1991 I moved out of my parents house.
Since then there hasn't been anything christmasy in the places I've lived.

If you give a shit
about when your neigbours mow
their lawns, you really

should wind your neck in.
Get a grip, and mind your own
business. Life is short.

I really don't give a shit, it's a thread about neighbors and christmas lights, one set of neighbors has had their christmas lights up for six years now the other 2, maybe 3.

I actually mow huge portions of three of my neighbors lawns every week, because it just makes life easier for me and I'm a stud with the gardening equipment.

The real pathetic thing is somebody who gives advice on how to write on a topic on a message board, life is short, mind your own business and move on.

PS I really like the monkey at the typewriter.

That is the kind attitude that leads to anarchy and mosquito infestation. What good is the world if you cannot impose your will on your neighbors?

When their X-mas lights light up the interior of your own house

They are going Griswald on me, I feel it.

There's no will imposing by me - I didn't go to his door and say " Hey, it's too early dude." But I do find it in my own quiet opinion a bit annoying.

We get along with our neighbors they're new and obviously festive people (Halloween decorations were off the hook), but I and hundreds of people enjoy the season closer to X-mas.

I would love to put the decs up now, there is a little Griswald inside of me, but I keep him under control. I refuse to dust decorations, so they mustn't be up more than a couple of weeks.

I am, however, in training for this year's Aberdeen Santa run. I think it would give me an edge if I could train in the costume, get used to running with a beard, but I fear the local pitchforks.

I hope it's just like in that film 'I'll Be Home For Chrsitmas' and I would love to meet that nice Jonathan Taylor Thomas.
