View Full Version : Beastie Boys and... Susan Sarandon?

I can tell you for a fact that on Wednesday night Susan Sarandon was filming a music video with the Beastie Boys. I don't know if she's in it, if she's directing it or what. But I do know that she is involved somehow. Either way, I guess the real news here is that a music video is being shot! I guess that'll make two known videos so far for HSC since we've seen a still from Too Many Rappers where they're in a supermarket.

How do you know this for a fact?

Are you sure? I saw them once unexpectedly at an event a couple of years ago (from kind of a distance) with someone who looked a LOT like her, I actually thought the same thing ("holy shit BBoys + Susan Sarandon!") but on closer perusal it looked like she was some sort of assistant/publicist type and not her..

I don't know, maybe it was, maybe you're right.. just sayin'. Don't hit me!

That would be really odd, she's kind of really NY why wouldnt they just do something with her there instead of all the way out in LA? I was kind of hoping you were going to say Susan Powter (http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&q=susan+powter&psj=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=univ&ei=nb3mTIWdCsL58AbY3K3VCQ&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CFAQsAQwAg&biw=1140&bih=647)(y)

I'm 100% positive. I can't say exactly how I know because I could get in trouble from my company, however, she was supposed to be at a certain place the other night and I was told by people who work for her that she couldn't make it because she was at a Beastie Boys video shoot. I know it may sound far-fetched, I was kind of surprised myself.

Oh that is cold blooded...you gotta give up the info. ;)

This is so great...just a couple of weeks ago we were debating if there was a future to the bboys. Funny how pre-new bboy era provides such euphoric feelings.

Also how do we know there is a video for TMR? Just from the still shot.

I never had any doubts that’d be back. I was just waiting for Yauch to get his groove back. Can’t wait to see them ALL TOGETHER in a video! Simply can’t wait, best news ever!!!!

I predict the video will consist of various celebs lip-synching the song while the Beasties are in the background playing their instruments.

I can just see Sarandon belting out "Aint no sunshine when Mike D's goooonnneee!!!"

Make some noise

How do you know that?
C'mon people, share the juice here!

What's the single?
What's the video concept??
What is Susan Sarandon??

I thought it was weird how they're shooting in LA.
Sounds like the video has a hollywood theme.

For some reason I'm imagining the video for 'I'm Fucking Ben Affleck' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kVv4A0r3wxU)

"How do you know that?"

Make Some Noise was appearently going to be the next single after TMR according to someone who read some record store flyer saying it was gonna be released on August 17th 2009 or something like that. Considering the limited release of TMR, that was obviously not the lead single (especially considering that they would probably never feature someone in their lead single).

Basically, considering that all this news is coming out, they are probably filming the video for their lead single and getting ready to release the video and song within the next couple months. Also considering that if Make Some Noise was gonna be the next single it was probably the lead single because i doubt they would release the main single as the 3rd or 4th.

So I assume that's why he suspects that. UNLESS HE KNOWS MORE THAN WE DO!

I didn't know that...thanks for the info.

It fits...Make Some Noise was described by Drowned In Sound as 'a definite future crowd hyper, almost Daft Punk-esque bass-line overlaid with thwacking dusty drums'.
- sounds like a candidate for lead single to moi.(y)

Oh. Well i thought sabotage was the lead single. Considering Get it Together didn't have a video nor was it played live many times (obviously because they weren't gonna have q-tip show up at every concert they do but still), but hey I wasn't even a year old by the time this album came out so i know poop anyway.

Yo I was already 5 son, smokin blunts was a daily routine.

For real though I've heard multiple times that GIT was one of their most popular singles (along with So Whatcha Want & Intergalactic) amongst the "real" hip-hop community, whatever that means.

Well yeah I think it's one of best songs on the album. In fact it was my fav song when i first heard the whole album and i had no idea whether it was a single or what, but what I mean't by lead single was the main song they use to promote the album.

In England Sabotage and Get It Together came together on the same single. I bought it with my pocket money.
Sabotage was released before Get It Together in America though, right?

I was 24 when IC came out and remember buying the GIT/Sabotage single. But I remember hearing Sabotage on the radio and MTV first. And never remember the radio ever playing GIT. While it technically may have been the lead/first single, I certainly never thought of it that way.

But who cares...We've got Susan Sarandon to look forward to...

At this point I feel like they keep filming shit just to throw in the can and shelf up at Oscope! Where's the mix-up tour footage that was shot and that groovy video and oh we could go on and on... I've got bboy fan blue balls for gods sake. :( But this is all very very encouraging.

If this is true, this has the makings for a great video, and a relevant video that can get a lot of hits on Youtube is all you need to get quickly back into the public eye.

I'm a little underwhelmed.

I'll still gladly watch the damn thing and I'm Hope I'll have to eat my words. Their new video should be amazing! But we're seriously at the stage where they have actors dressing up as them for the videos? Woody Allan style?

I kinda called this when I first read Suan Sarandon was involed. The first thing that sprang to mind when thinking about how actors could be involed was the John Spencer's Blues Explosion Talk about the blues video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LO3CQy0Fj-Q), that funny enough kinda reminds of the Sabotage video.
