What are your yuletide plans? In this post-post-modernist environment where Christmas is a mass commercialised ode to Christianity's omnipresence will you be at midnight mass or elsewhere?

Me? 19th-22nd visiting friends in our nation's capitol (hopefully drunk) then 23rd-30th in Lanzarote enjoying a little sunshine. New Year not yet scheduled.

I don't like family Christmas gathered around the log fire etc. I haven't had one of those since 1994 when I was told it would be my Dad's last Christmas and we should all behave well.

Thursday night, it's not freezing for once and I am enjoying some Maker's Mark. Long may December continue.

Staying here and visiting family on the 25th, pretty bummed that everyone's sort of holding their breath for it to be grandpa's last xmas. Then catching a flight late that night to visit the bf's family in SLC until the 30th, flying back and partying for NYE here. First time I've had that whole week off in probably a decade.

Tons of parties beforehand, though. Can't wait to do drunk karaoke and make inappropriate comments at the work party next week (y)

I'll be spending christmas alone this year, so I'll probably be getting drunk alone while watching an entire season of some kind of television show on DVD. and I suppose I'll probably be posting on here via my phone unless I get the internet at home before then.

The boyfriend will be hundreds of miles away for two weeks, writing an album in seclusion. SO DRAMATIC....ha. I'll probably get a little sad and miss him, but hopefully I won't cry or anything.

I like the christmas season, but the actual day isn't that big a deal to me. I always hate putting so much emphasis on one day.

I will be in lovely big farmhouse in Wales playing happy families for the last time!! As soon as xmas is over it's time to bust out the truth to all the family-including the kids(bit scared) that me and A have actually been split up for about 18 months and it's time to fucking finally sort shit out. Woop. Again, bit scary but so overdue it's just stupid. Gotta sell house etc. So i'm just biding my time 'till it's all out the way. And hopefully partying some too(y)

If he write Rumours or Plastic Ono Band, then fair play, otherwise no excuse for being such a wet lettuce.

will be spending Christmas Eve with my mom. Dinner out and that's about it. Christmas Day spend time with mom and my brother. Nothing too exciting. Still no NYE plans...and most likely won't. Not my favorite day of the year. It is impossible to get any time off around the holidays since I work at a union hospital...been there 5 years but I have no seniority.

Palm Springs area for Christmas with the fiance's family. It will probably be rough as his Mom was the one who really pulled the Christmas activities together and she's gone. :( I plan on helping out a lot with cooking and such.

On the 28th or so we will be leaving for San Diego to spend time with my parents and my little brother. We're planning on staying in San Diego through New Years but I'm not sure that I can handle staying with my parents that long without going crazy but that's why alcohol exists.

My Christmas day this year is at my aunty's it's just her family and ours (cos we don't like the rest). We all eat and drink till we can't move then lie on floating couches in the pool. Then my housemates and i have our traditional "real family" Christmas night at our place with all our friends because by evening we've all had a gutful of the relatives.
I love christmas day because i work in retail and the weeks leading up to that day off are so busy and full of cunts that by the time the 25th rolls around i just want to stab one of them in the neck so instead i eat and booze till i can barely fit in my bathers (y)

probably :/

hope it's not too sad of a cry. I'd be fine with just getting a little emotional. enough to make me sappy, causing me to cry a little after seeing a child reunite with a puppy or something. or after hearing the story of hanukkah...or after watching a commercial about cell phones. :(

^Hopefully his album won't be ALL songs of broken love and missing someone.

Wish I had the time off some of you guys have off <looks at rirv and hel> but then you probably work harder than me throughout the year so what comes around goes around :)

I've invited my family over to mine except my sister and brother in law still aren't speaking to me - partly because it's hard to speak when your head is up your own arse. So we'll see how that plays out (y)

I like Christmas, I dunno why. Food and booze I suppose. Not catholic anymore, not pagan ever so the religious aspect has gone. I do like to be a host though from time to time, so maybe that is it.

like the last few years I'll be down with the gf at her parent's place in the former Nazi heartland of Franconia in Bavaria.

they'll all probably go to mass on Christmas Eve. like last year I'll stay home, listen to Devo, and wish I was in NZ in the sun.

All a bit up in the air. My dad was diagnosed with cancer a couple of weeks ago so he starts chemo (fingers crossed) on Monday so not sure whether he'll be up for big ole family meal on christmas day but we'll definitely be all getting together at some point. Otherwise, I shall be catching up on 6 weeks of sky+action over the festive period. Hurrah! Love christmas day and boxing day but as I only get back on the 22nd I am missing all the build up crap I hate. Perfect (apart from the cancer bit which sucks big time):o

keep smiling :)

My parents are at home this year, so dinner and presents at their house on christmas eve. Nothing other than that. It would be nothing at all if they went away like last year. Aaah, that was good.

i will be home with the family, eat a delicious stuffed chicken dinner, drink wine, go to midnight mass for mom, see people i havent seen in a year there, come home, open presents, have coffee, go to sleep, wake up, eat some more, sleep, eat, sleep, eat, eat(y)

i used to want to protest going to midnight mass, not because i don't believe in God but it made me uncomfortable how at my parents church all the rich sons of bitches turn it into a fashion show and I don't like the element of snobbiness there, but I realized I don't give a shit about anyone else. I prefer to make my mom happy and just go, sit there for 45 minutes, listen to some music and just accept it as a part of Christmas tradition.
Not a big deal.

Going to brunch at the Shanghai Hilton on Christmas Day with six other expat families. We're going to get a bit drunk and ignore our hyped up children as they run around like a band of wild monkeys. It's going to be ace.

looks like i might go to midnight mass with my friend who has to stay in town for work...then maybe christmas day lasagna at my friend and his wife's new apartment.

i'm leaning toward getting drunk alone, but maybe i'll split the difference and blaze before I go to church.

One week tomorrow! You love it really.

I'm hoping for snow. Might get my own snowboard next week so no longer have to borrow and we can just spend the day on the hill.

I wish I knew of pot when I had to go to church, that'd of got be through many sundays a lot easier.

Was looking at what food to do my guests, do you think a vegetable curry is too weird?

I have the 23-28 off from work so basically just lots of eating and drinking like always. Spend x-mas eve with my boyfriend's family and x-mas day with my own.

Brother is finally making it back home for the holidays this year so I'll just hang out with him tons, especially excited to go play pond hockey with him and my dad and some friends.

Not sure if Im in the mood to go scam some deals on Boxing day this year...

Will be going to see True Grit at some point this weekend for sure.

Had some stellar new years plans for a cabin rental up in the mountains but they fell through so I'm just going to bum around town with who-ever out of my friends isn't working that night.

I am currently at work making paper snowflakes! wee!
