View Full Version : Tight Pants?

This may seem like a random post, well, because it is, but here goes:
The last time we saw the Beastie Boys in street clothes was during the early stages of TT5B. As documented in later photographs and an eye-grabbing live concert film, the Beasties then switched over to tracksuits, leisure suits, and a matching t-shirt and pant combo for the rest of the tour.
For the pageantry of The Mix Up (circa 2007), the Beastie Boys performed in attire usually seen at swanky, Upper Westside cocktail parties.
For HSC, Pt. 2, I'm feeling a slight throwback vibe and feel the Beastie Boys will perform in street clothes until they concoct something else.
Since 2004—the last time the Beasties were seen in t-shirts and tennies—skinny jeans have become all the rage. Heck, there are times I can't find a normal pair of jeans at the mall, and for a man with a sack that hangs lower than most (sorry to gross you out), skinny jeans are downright uncomfortable. Because I also come from thick, Bohemian stock, tight pants look like spandex around my thighs, and no diss to the fashionistas of the world, but that material should only be worn by professional wrestlers and Olympic bobsledders.
So here's my question/concern:
Do you think the Beastie Boys will be rockin’ the tight pants when they start touring and taking pictures for HSC, PT. 2? I never question MCA, Mike D, and Adrock, but if they start wearing tight pants I might have to.
dude, follow you're own style. Even if they do start wearing skinny jeans doesn't mean you have to.
Personally, I think all their shows will be done in bright green g-strings.

Don't worry 'bout me, cause I'm never wearing skinny jeans.
I'm just afraid it might affect the live show. For instance, is it possible to do "The Weave" in tight pantaloons?

i think maybe this is why they started doing the prison jump suits, and shit like that - so people wouldnt feel the need to copy what they wore? i dunno, maybe? thats what i thought and i thought that was cool, i liked the odd outfits

So...you're concerned that these three grown men may at some point succumb to some kind of unrelenting pressure to start wearing tight pants, in order to remain fashionably relevant, which would, ultimately, force you to have to do the same.
Have you considered not giving two shits about what kind of pants they wear?

Indeed.
Although i do believe the main concern was their clothes affecting the live show. But if they are happy in what they are wearing then they will be relaxed and happy thus making the live shows brilliant and you wont bloody notice what pants they are wearing. Unless you have your priorities completely out of order.
You dont have to wear what they do, they dont care. Just buy their records, they'll be made up with that.

people don't seem get when when thread starters are HALF joking.as far as i can see apart from the ILL COMMUNICATION ERA they have always worn the same sort of things flat front pants(trousers),cords,SLIM fitting jeans that show off sneakers well.no they wont rock skinny jeans,I can see by their style in 2009 they edging more towards they average forty year old look striped shirts, cords, non baggy jeans and suede desert boots.

I like this thread. For me, one of the things that make the Beasites, cool is their sense of style....in addition to their music.
So that being said, I'd like to see them rock the matador look. Ya know, Three Amigos Style! (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092086/)

I think Macy's is having a 40%-off sale on all skinny jeans throughout the month of December.

maybe there was a half joke. But that means there is another half and that half appears to be bollocks.
My joke about the g-strings was no joke

I am all for g-strings too. There's nothing they can't wear. If MCA can look hot as a deviled egg then it's ON! (y)(y)

I would love a dress-up tour. Sort of like the pageant, but just with costumes instead. :)
