View Full Version : Battlestar Galactica Blu Ray box set.
I've not seen a single episode of this but I constantly see it being name checked in many a Video game review and sci-fi mags.
With it being Christmas soon people have been asking me what I want and I'm thinking of asking for the boxset of this.
Is it really worth all of the hype? Remember I love sci-fi but I'm not a particularly big fan of American tv series (too many questions and not enough answers - hello Lost, the Event, Hero's etc etc) and I have the attention span of a five year old.
Yay or neigh good people of the board.
If it's a pile of poo you could always sell it, trade it or give it to someone else for their birthday/christmas/wedding.

Judging from what you said Mark, i wouldnt. I lasted two series and didnt really understand what the hell was going on. A few friends say its marvellous but like you say, requires commitment. I dont know about getting the answers as i when i watched it i had too many questions.
Good visuals and a couple of tasty young ladies in it.(y)
the first season is really excellent, but it goes downhill after that. the second season, if i remember right, is mostly pretty good, and after that...not so good, not so good at all, it gets really silly. like, lost, silly. and the ending is total shit. there was a point either in season 3 or halfway through season 4, i forget, where i think it would have been a great(-ish) ending but then they keep going and do something else.
but season one really is very good. i think it's up on netflix instant watch. basically it's about the last remnant of humanity being chased through space by killer robots, and the robots have designed robots that look like humans who are sent to infiltrate the survivors, so there's this really great ambience of desperation and paranoia.
then in later seasons they start getting into plots about the robots believing in god and people falling in love with them and it's kinda dumb imo
again though - season one is good
haha, thanks guys. I think I may take a punt on it to be honest. I was kinda hoping it wouldn't be like lost but maybe a few unanswered questions cant be that bad.

was this even shot in HD or on film?
if not there's no reason to spend the extra on the blu ray edition

it's been a little while since i saw it but i wouldn't put it on lost levels of unanswered questions exactly it's just...the answers are dumb (and the questions are dumb too, for example, "why do robots believe in god?")
on some level the silliness isn't quite as bad as lost because at least BSG is a sci fi show - in a show about humans being chased by killer robots across the galaxy you expect a little bit of fantasy and all of the weirdness that comes with that. lost pretended to be plausible for the longest time until it decided not to be but BSG is at least up front about it.
once again though - season 1, definitely worth the time

too many questions and not enough answersPlenty of questions are answered though the ultimate question isn't but it may not matter if you don't mind plenty of it being intertwined with character development and that you enjoy gritty space operas.
