Same old crap
Something new but entirely the same as last year
Failing and succeeding in some but not all resolutions
History repeating itself but too late to notice after the event
Still haven't started that novel or got that job
Not really all that much slimmer maybe a even a little fatter
Music hasn't improved and TV has got worse
Google and Facebook still own us
Still in love with the same girl or boy and done little about it
Newspapers are still losing money


Yup, it's that time of year for everything to have a count down of the greatest or worst thing that may or may not of happened in 2010. More lists of personal opinions is what we need in the media. No real thought, just an uninformed opinion will do.

What is your top ten?

haha, this was before my morning coffee. Google Reader was mainly lining up Best Of 2010 and Top Ten this that and the other type stuff. I unsubscribed to some of those RSSs

Ah, you missed the point.

The list was a mock up of the bullshit you read in daily newspapers atm. None of it has any real meaning but just typical. I'm sure music today is great but I haven't heard it yet :)

I'd be far less annoying on this board if there was a delete option still. I regret most posts soon after doing them because I rarely put thought into them (y)

It depends on how your brain is wired I think.

I say it ends this year. We use a base-10 system so 1 to 10 is first set, we're just finishing that first set so it's about to tick over a new decade. We don't count zero as one, or count nine as ten. One is where we normally start. Technical fuzzy-math I know but to me it makes more sense to me that way, but realise to most others it doesn't.

But then, when do I ever see it the simple way? :)

stick your base 10 up your arse mate

the 80's started in 1980, the 90's started in 1990 and so on. any other system and it makes 1999 by prince seem a lot sillier

It's still a base-ten counting 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. There is still 10 numbers.

Not saying the change over of two or more numbers in a year isn't significant but I think technically the decade ends after the 10, not after the 9.

I know what doesn't make my top 10 list of the year, that last back and forth about what constitutes a decade. Yawntastic.

The first year was the year 1 rather than 0 so the first decade (AD) ended at the end of the year 10AD. So techically, this decade ends at the end of this year. Also the millenium was celebrated at the wrong time as it probably should have happened at the end of the year 2000 rather than the start.

But that doesn't matter, what people like is when the little numbers change so ....whatever.

I'm more into mathematics than art. The changing of numbers is insignificant to why they are changing. The year 2038 problem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Year_2038_problem) will be bigger than the millennium bug! :eek:

Exactly.....we had this debate last year when Adam(i think) started an end of the decade thread and i'm sure i was the one arguing that surely there wasn't a new decade until this year was over....and Adam had the opposite view. Or ws it the other way around?? Whatever...i don't have a top ten list.

my headline of 2010 would be 'doctor visits'

i been to all kind of doctors for all kind of reasons, all year

now i take more meds but im not about to die (sorry)
