My kid is really into poop humor at the moment. All you have to do is say 'poop!' and she breaks down in hysterical laughter.

She was at a friend's house recently and this friend has a Barbie doll that has a dog that you 'feed' little brown pellets, and then they come out the other end. She thought this was THE. BEST. TOY. EVER.

I never really analyzed my affinity for poop jokes. i think i was mainly inflenced by my mom. she's always laughed so darn hard at mild poop humor. ever since i was a kid. she also used to burp loudly.

I guess the funny part is the unexpectedness. (is that a word?) my mom is a well-mannered christian woman. she never swears and her appearance is very neat and clean. but her sense of humor is ridiculously immature.

once when i was a teenager, we laughed really hard in the shoe section of kmart because she couldn't stop farting, and i heard her from the next aisle. oh man, that was hilarious, people thought we were nuts, it went on for like 15 minutes.

anyway, i guess it's obvious that humor lies in the unexpected. uhhh. yep.

*farts*

Jokes have been a part of human culture since at least 1900 BC. According to research conducted by Dr Paul McDonald of the University of Wolverhampton, a fart joke from ancient Sumer is currently believed to be the world's oldest known joke.[1] Britain's oldest joke, meanwhile, is a 1,000-year-old double-entendre that can be found in the Codex Exoniensis.
