it normally consists of him being annoying with his chums talking for a bout twenty minutes and then playing a shit chart record by jls or someone equally as shit. normally get about 6 records in 2 hours, all shit and you have to listen to inane drivel. SO it makes a nice change to hear some really quality records by a band i like on main show on the main radio station in my country. and know that there are plenty of people hearing beastie boys for first time and who knows maybe liking it enough to buy an album, go to a concert, sign up to message board, annoy you with silly posts etc. the circle of life.

zane lowe is ridiculously self-contradictory at times, but to be fair he at least has an obvious passion for music and radio 1 have always seemed pretty cool with the beasties. they got the ch-check it out world exclusive and played it into the ground. there's not many 40-plus year old acts who can command or receive that kind of support, especially after 6 years in the wilderness. hopefully the new stuff will get similar support, the show this morning is a good start.

nevertheless, there isn't much left for the beasties to conquer and i imagine they'll be satisfied just to get another album which they're proud of out there, and here's hoping the fans will be too. more than anything i'd like a tour, but i can understand why it may not be feasible, or certainly limited in a worldwide capacity. anyway, anything extra in terms of new widespread success is a bonus, and on radio 1 i'd take zane lowe first thing in the morning over moyles any day.

I think he just retained a bit more professionalism when talking to mike skinner and was able to ask sensible questions instead of wittering on about steel cut oats.
and i think he left the film thing because he'd run out of time pissing about.

yes i expected a load of balls to come out of mike's mouth but i didnt expect zane lowe to turn into a 5 year old. I dont have a problem with what mike d did, he did actually give plenty of info without being asked about it.I expected lowe to play along a little bit but still at least try and interview the bloke instead of getting him to detail everything on his sandwich.

Well his interview was around 8 am UK time and it was right after that guy from the Streets. They played Sure Shot and Intergalactic during the time I think when Mike was on. Hope that helps. :/

Alright, I finally listened. After the build-up on the Message Board, it was a bit of a let-down (although it's always a treat to hear Mike's voice).

Mike D has escaped to California to avoid the harsh winter in NYC. He also mentioned people will probably hate on him for this.


In another quick segment, Mike does go off on the typical Beastie tangent about health food, and Zane not only avoids reigning him in, but continues to ask questions about Mike's diet (seems like a lost opportunity to do something cooler).


Another segment discusses the Beastie Boys' "big video"/"filmeo," but doesn't tell us anything we don't already know. Mike is also ambiguous about any future tour dates.
