Have the boys ever performed this tune live, searched all over You tube but to no avail. Anybody been to a gig where they have done it or even better provide a link to it being performed

The tune its self never really appealed that much when I first heard it but over time its grew on me and would say its in my top three favorites for the boys

It actually got releases as a single in the UK, peaked at 29

Did it not get released as a single in the USA?

never mind, i was trying to post links to my beastiemixes page but i'm having issues. The NLF v ShakeBreakBounce is my favourite remix i have ever done. Its one of the best acapellas to mix with.

I've sorted it now, if you are interested

One of those times is a BS2000 setlist. Just sayin, I think it might be one of the more erroneously captured songs. Happy to be proven wrong, it's not my favourite shit anyways.

yeah absolute tune, definitely a favourite. wish they'd play it more. the beat is subtle, very nice.

I always thought Electrify was far superior on all fronts.

ha yeah it's weird. for me, electrify is the definition of filler. but i suppose both tunes follow the same sort of format...if that makes sense. but negotiation hands down...for me!

I like the small star remix of NLF. Electrify has aged well, imo.

^Is the small star mix the one that's just that big beat and the squeaking noise? Shit description I know, but if so then yeah that version owns. The Handsome Boy Modelling School mix is tight too.

On the topic of filler, one of the cool things about Hello Nasty is how much filler it has outside of the epic three opening tracks, and how good that filler gets in places. It's definitely more pointed in the post Grasshoper Unit part of the album, but semi-tracks like Flowin Prose and Sneakin shit on the more full-fledged Unite or Just a Test for my money.

Personally, I think Grasshopper Unit needs to enter the live fold. I fucking love that track, it's ideal for this latter-era identity.

My favorite song on Hello Nasty is UNITE. I could just marry that track. :o

Must add Putting Shame in your game is like my other fave!!!

Shame in your Game is good. The break and the outro in particular.

We were just listening to the album while making French toast. I remember not liking it when it came out (it seemed not many people thought much of it but it was a meal ticket for music critics and was good for bringing in new fans) but I realised over time that the point is to not take it very seriously.

I will never really like Unite though. That said, shit like Song for the Man has improved for me, and I admit there are lots of interesting experiments all over the whole thing. Electrify is like a Bouillabaisse song, and lyrically it's some of their (Yauch's I'm sure) best work.

I think the reason why I love UNITE is Yauch's delivery at 3:02.... But yes I agree it was full of experimentation and funny even though it's over ten years later I still don't hear other artists experiment so much with different sounds. I think some artists are afraid to explore, they know that one hook will sell albums and they sell themselves short. IMO...

With that said, I really love the alternate version on CD 2 of Hello Nasty of Shame in your Game. It's much more hard or I don't know how to explain it but I've played it a lot recently and have a new appreciation for it. :p

Yeah....that's probably it. They got the voice sample "right altogether...right altogether....right altogether....right altogether." <more shit description lol>

UNITE is amazing. way up there for me. never heard a hip-hop beat quite like that. its got that cartoonish quality to it, but still manages to maintain musical integrity and not become a huge parody of itself. something only the beasties could pull off. it's rare that groups can really get away with going that far off the reservation and not only make it work, but make it sound natural and organic as well. lyrically I think it stands up there with the best of the HN era also.

good stuff.

I'm with you on that one. The flow is immense.

One of the things my wife liked was the Mixmaster Mike phone message and I got to tell her that whole story. She thought it was a cool touch and mentioned that she also remembered the phone msg from TT5B.
