Initially this felt like a punch in the stomach...but I am going to continue to send positive vibes his way.

Those with the strongest of convictions always face the toughest of challenges
because they have the strength to accept and overcome those challenges.

I ain't gonna lie, I'am quite WEAK and highly emotional about this news but you know I have faith too and I know Yauch's gonna be fine. I just feel like I am in Inception where everything in our fandom is stuck in this dream state and we can't get out of it till this cancer DIES and just gets the hell out. :/

Dude will never be 'cancer free' in the traditional sense; every little thing will be monitored for the rest of his life. Even when cancer leaves his body it will still have him checking over his shoulder. I'm really pleased with the announcement though, it's a necessary bit of perspective. This isn't the doomsday scenario it would first seem, it's just a new fact of life. He's still fighting it, but that was always going to be the case. Take solace that he's optimistic enough to be working again. (y)

Come May for me, I'll be 2 years in remission from Small Bowel Cancer for which I had surgery and chemo. My chemo ended May 09. My doctor said 2 years will be a milestone but I still need to be monitored. Right now I am in remission. Perhaps Yauch is in remission as well. I don't think anyone is 'cancer free' after getting it, both physically and emotionally cancer free. Physically there is a possibility it can come back and you are always thinking about it.

Good luck to Yauch...keep up the strength!

I. hate. cancer. That said Adam knew it was a fight & while he let us know it's not over just yet he did say he was hopeful to be cancer free soon. Also we know what a fighter Yauch is & it may be a longer fight than we care for but cancer's gonna find out this is one fight it never should have started when MCA stir fries it in his wok!
