I hope to God it's Steelers/Bears. Rodgers looks like a fucking Terminator at the moment, but I think the Bears match up well unless Cutler has one of his infamous meltdown games with 4 INTs. It's nice because I have much respect for both teams. I think I need to see how Pittsburgh plays this weekend to give a definitive pick, but I do know one thing....there's no fucking way the Jets will leave Heinz Field with a win.

What's up with the Pittsburgh hate? You're a VA guy, so I'm guessing you're a Redskins fan, right? Our amazing football team makes up for our lack of a decent baseball team. We love our towels, man! Myron Cope an shit. I have one autographed by you-know-who........Troy Polamalu's aunt. She's a pharmacist out in Roseburg, OR. An old college roommate that lives out there got her to sign it for me. She pretty much raised Troy after his parents shipped him up there from SoCal for being too awesome probably. Like every team, the Steelers have their fair share of meathead fans, but don't let that select few ruin your perception.

As for the Bears game, you kind of had to see it coming. Cutler's not the most consistent QB. When he's hot, he's good, but when he shits the bed, it's UGLY. At least he didn't get caught on national TV wiping a booger on his backup like Sanchez.

I don't agree with anything you posted.

I'm taking the Steelers 27-17. You need to realize that this is familiar territory for Pittsburgh. The defense is too tough and tagging them as underdogs pretty much guarantees that James Harrison will be doin some Story of Ricky type shit. Green Bay's Oline is probably worse than Pittsburgh's. By the time the Packers work out the Super Bowl butterflies, the Steelers will be up big.

I was just gving you a hard time. I am actually a longtime Raiders fan. I still hurt from sll those AFC champonship game losses. I cannot root for the Steelers but of course I respect the organization. I will be rooting for the Packers but with the big game experience of the Steelers I would not bet against them.

I prefer Ben Ruthlessraper and I'm pretty sure I coined that shit myself.

I still hold the stance of "Did he act like a douche? Yes. Was he ever charged? No."

I know it looks REALLY bad to have 2 incidents in as many years, but when you're a 2-time Super Bowl winning QB in his mid 20's, that would definitely give a dude with asshole tendencies a false sense invincibility. But you can't tell me that that same big time QB goes to GA and all those college town country bumpkin girls don't go apeshit. I've seen southern girls go nuts over Screech fucking Powers, man. Reports from both incidents infer that he in no way forced himself on either woman. Fuck, the Lake Tahoe chick bragged about it to all her coworkers. Anyway, dude's getting married now and he does seriously look like he's putting all his inflated ego bullshit behind him. The whole scenario just gives anti-Steelers people more ammunition, that's all. I'm fine with that as long as they keepcollecting Lombardis.

If I had to pick a 2nd favorite team, I'd have to say the Bears because the cultures are pretty similar, but man, it's hard to root for Cutler. I'm not even talking about his whole MCL sprain issue. He comes off as a complete poopdick. I would have a lot of trouble rooting for that guy. He's just so smug!

Rick Rielly on ESPN wrote a story about him a week or two ago. Its one of those stories that kinda tries to show in him a good light, but before that it lists all the reasons that people think of him the way they do. Which in the end really outweighed the thing he was trying to make a point of.

So ya basically hes just doesnt give a fuck and is kind of a smug dick head. But i do agree with Chuck Barkley on the situation. If he played bad, criticize him all you want. But don't question a guys injury and his ability to help his team because the only person that really knows the truth is that person dealing with it.

Maurice Jones Drew looked like the biggest jerkoff of all, one of the first and most vocal critics and Barkley put him in his place. The Jags were in a tight playoff race coming down to the wire and MJD missed the last 2 games of the year that could have been decisive in the Jags making the playoffs and then has the nerve to come out and question Cutler?

DIGI
01-26-2011, 10:36 AM
Yeah, Merril Hoge went off about Deion Sanders and MJD. Merril's the shit. I have more insight into his thoughts because he's always on the local Pittsburgh radio station WDVE. He mentioned how Deion mentions toughness, but was pretty much the biggest pussy on the field when he played. He would avoid contact at all costs. Pittsburgh gets a lot of flack about having a terrible O line (which they do), but Chicago's line was by far the worst. Cutler got the shit knocked out of him all season.

With that said, there were reports that he went out to dinner that night after the game, had a slight limp, and walked up a few flights of steps to enter his reserved area. It's easier to crucify the guy when you don't really like him. I just remember one game earlier this season, I believe, he threw like 3 INTs to the same dude and in his postgame interview, he said it was pretty much a fluke and if he was on the field now, he'd go right back at him. He's incapable of showing any type of humility, which is mind-boggling because he, along with probably Derek Anderson, are the 2 QBs that stand out in my mind when thinking of QBs that have severe meltdown games fairly regularly.

the super bowl is usually a good game, good stuff last night.

Planetary
02-07-2011, 01:01 PM
I don't think it does. more often towards the end of games id have thought. The reason they went for the two pointer (i think) was because it put them within a field goal of levelling the game. a one point conversion would have meant they still needed a touchdown, rendering it pretty useless taking into account the time left.

Whatitis
02-07-2011, 01:08 PM
I was a little suprised Pitt did go for the 2 points conversion at the end of the first half to try and get within 10 points, a touchdown and a field goal.

Well o-line of pitt was missing pouncey and its hard to replace your anchor of the line before the super bowl. bumbled snaps against the jets was a bad sign.

polamalu and harrison were non exsistent. It makes you wonder if green bay's secondary didnt have 3 guys get hurt and if the packers wr's didnt drop so many balls if this could have been a 21 point blow out.

Big ben didnt have the defense bail him out this time. Sorry but he is not any better than eli mcnabb or romo, he is just on an amazing team.

DIGI
02-08-2011, 09:52 AM
I'll agree that the defense wasn't there. It very well could have been a blow out. I know he's not well received outside of western PA, but I'm pretty confused by your opinion of Ben. Like you said, the defense wasn't it's usual explosive self and the offense gave up 3 HUGE turnovers. It would've been easy for the Steelers to fold at 21-3. It's a testament to a great QB to fight back and almost pull out an amazing comeback victory. I think a Super Bowl loss is just what this team needed, to be honest. Complacency is a pro sport team's worst enemy. People just expect the Steelers to win. That's not reality.

Ben is a fantastic QB, though. He's a proven winner. He just came up a little short this time. I get confused by all of those debates leading up to the game. One conversation is about him not being an elite QB and you turn the channel and the conversation's about him being a lock for the Hall of Fame with a 3rd Super Bowl victory. He can't help he's on a good team. Look at the guy he's constantly compared to, Rivers. His team had the best overall defense during the regular season and he always puts up impressive stats, but they didn't even make the playoffs. Ben's without a doubt a top 5 QB in the NFL.

Burnout18
02-08-2011, 06:16 PM
I just think Ben is a good qb but not special. Brady, Peyton, Rodgers, brees and on another level Vick, are all special qbs. Amazing. We can add rivers in there too, but you are correct he doesnt do shit in big games.

I think he's good but if you swap him with a Few other guys, the steelers would be in the same position they are with Ben. I mean without him, and another qb (Dixon) at the beginning of the year they went 3-1 beat the eventual 1 seed in the NFC and almost beat the ravens. How great is he? How vital is he to that teams success? I dunno but I feel like he's on the same level as a few other guys who who could slide in there and also take that Pitt team to the super bowl.

I've previously mentioned my dislike of him, but you can't deny his on field performance. So go ahead and hate on him all you want. You know that DA wanted to nail him in the worst way, but came up empty with evidence. I'd expect it from fans from other teams, but guess what, he can be found guilty of douchebaggery in the court of public opinion, but that shit doesn't show up on his permanent record.

And Jim magically shows up and starts talking football like he's John Clayton after his team wins. I have quite a few friends that live in WI. Madison, mainly. They say the fanbase out there is sickening and flooded with fair weather fans. Case in point-Jim dropping by to rub shit in after a Steelers loss. How many other football-related posts have you seen by him ever? I don't pretend to think I know everything about the Packers or their players, but I do know that Green Bay's a classy organization much like Pittsburgh, so it somewhat comforts me knowing a good team came out on top regardless and not a team that is actually filled with cocky assholes like Baltimore, Cincy, or Philly. Fuck Michael Vick, Andy Reid, and the owner Jeffery Lurie.
They're all just caretakers of the team. The team belongs to the city.
I will be a fan long after the time when they finally leave. I can love the team, but not the people running it, or the POS QB they have playing for them because of this.

I'm a fan of the team, not of Vick.

I don't know what happened or didn't happen in Roethlisberger's personal life. Don't care.
I just think the guy comes off like an overgrown frat boy who refuses to grow up, and it reflects poorly on not only a great organization he's supposed to be the face of as the QB, but it reflects poorly on every fan of that organization.

Haha. Dude, you have no idea how many times I've said the same thing. I'm trying my hardest to not sound like I'm supporting him while stating the truth. He wasn't convicted, but he does act like an asshole, no debate there. I do think he can be reformed, though. He came in with what seemed to be a good head on his shoulders. Believe me, the Rooneys and Kevin Colbert wouldn't haven't invested so much in a kid that had obvious personality issues. I firmly believe that gaining that much success at such a young age not just went to his head, but transformed him into the frat boy asshole with the sense of entitlement he became. He thought he was untouchable. There's nothing more I'd like to see than my team winning the big game again, but I also think the humility that comes with the defeat will do him wonders.
