Well how about I say I can't even link to it because it scares me so much. Exorcist! And it might affect me worse because I went to a church as a kid where they talked about demons and shit and then seeing that movie at like 7 years old freaked me out.

Steven King's It. Good scary moments. They made me scared of the dark, clowns and pretty much everything, but the awesome talents of the child actors overcame any fear I had of the antagonist of the film. The horror was out shadowed by the awesome talents of Tim Curry, John Ritter, Jonathan Brandis, Seth Green......

oh yeah, when Drew encounters E.T. for the first time, his neck erects. and both screams. And the part where he is all pale moaning somewhere near the bridge. Who the fuck ever thought E.T. would be a friendly character for kids?!

Ha, my 4 yr old is sat next to me watching The Nightmare Before Christmas right now through her fingers. She doesn't want me to turn it off though. I expect this to come up in therapy at some point in her future.

^ that kind of thing is regular in our house at the minute. my daughter is scared but wont stop watching.

we watched jurassic park last week and there was no shrieking but only a stunned face and "daddy, why did that dinosaur eat the man on the toilet?" "because he left the kids in the car on his own". "oh, thats ok then!"

Outbreak literally made me so upset I had to leave the room. It was just too real and made me so sad/scared. I still get the willies when I think about it :(

I screamed out loud at the theater at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67p4hS6vyD8&feature=related

Movies were tamer when I was a kid. Prior to that scene, the music had cued us in to knowing when we needed to hide under our coats. That's the scene where they don't give you any warning.

The clown in Poltergeist - fuck!

I had to get rid of my monkey puppet with the long arms and legs because of the trauma

good call, Jaws has still got it. the bit where the skeleton falls out the canoe still makes me jump.
My 4 year old has watched many a pg film where there are scary bits. Jurassic Park, all the Potters, Indiana Jones, a few other things but there is no way i am letting her anywhere near Jaws.

the kid at the window in Salem's Lot and just about all of Eraserhead-i sat and watched it with my dad when i was pretty young. i was just about to write some of the scenes that freaked me out...easier to write which bits didn't twist my little mind-fuck all basically-it's all wrong, but still awesome

i was going to post a clip but just looking at the list of then on utube grosses me out,so i won't! actually, having just looked at them again i would quite happily say it's the scariest film ever, partly cos it's just so fucked up

Pennywise and the paper sailboat in the sewer are ingrained in my memory. the bathtub suicide, the giant spider, I don't think I could ever watch the whole movie as a kid...

I think a lot of us remember it because it was a big event on TV when it came out... it was played on TV over the course of a week I think.
