I translated that Mike D. Interview from Italian but it might not be accurate and it might be choppy so if another fan can do it better then please feel free to correct it or whatever! :) I just wanted to help out and get it out there.

Now I just read the other thread about this March date not being accurate. Maybe it's not but this interview Mike supposedly says March. So I don't know I am just passing on the translation and we can all wait for an official announcement! :0)

Meeting Mike D (real name Michael Diamond) of the Beastie Boys in a luxury hotel in the center of Florence. The classic place that if you do not "Pit" in some way from Florence, you'll never see.

Mike is in Florence to assist his wife, Tamra Davis, director of worldwide fame, arrived in the Tuscan capital to present, within the series "The display of art," his latest film "Basquiat: The Radiant Child."

The docu-film, a series of interviews made by the artist dating from 85 same Davis, was notorious in the drawer for over twenty years and then be premiered at the Sundance Festival last year and this year in Florence. (Or last, given that the interview of November 2010).

E 'in this context that intersect the lives of Mike D and Tamra Davis, the Beastie Boys than with that of Basquiat. They all move into this dilapidated artistic cauldron that is New York in the early '80s, a city Mike D describes very well during our chat. Basquiat was an artist already on the launching pad, dealing with the glories and pains of success, the Beastie Boys are still a trio of young teenagers in search of an identity, both artistic and musical. Fascinated by punk rock, give the following year published their first album, and first masterpiece, "Licensed to Ill".

The soundtrack of Basquiat: The Radiant Child, needless to say, was due to be built by the Beastie Boys, but one of them, Adam Yauch, had throat cancer and this has been stopped in the pits. Here, therefore, that in the ending credits of the film displays only the names of the other two companions venture or Mike D and Adam Horowitz. But do not worry fans of the trio of New York, Yauch has successfully passed the illness and the next record (with a world tour) has already been announced! The title? Read it in the interview!

After meeting with Tamra Davis (short term, these screens) Mike joins me in the large lounge. It 'a good mood. I pull out my trusty Ipod purple with whom I interview everyone from DJ Premier to lampredottaro corner. Mike looks at him curiously.

Deiva and 'recorder.: So I refrain from calling me from your lawyers.

Mike D: I have one too - he jokes - so you control.

Deiva: I was talking to your wife of New York of the '80s, as told in the film "Basquiat The Radiant Child", the same as the Beastie Boys have taken the first steps. I imagine challenging but decadent, full of life, but battered by the crack. Given that you've even dedicated an album ("To the 5 Boroughs") can you tell me how you think, the city has changed over the years?

Mike D: Well.... It has changed radically. Speaking from 82-83, from the time of Basquiat then onwards. But the thing is that ... is not only the issue of drugs, that was then and there even now. In every big city you can find these things, I think that drugs, however, have changed! (Laughs) The thing is, New York, at the time, was a place like no other in the world. It was unique. All they could do it all. You wanted to be an artist, wanted to be a musician to make music even if you did not know, well then you could come and do it in New York. And with this I am referring especially to those who were in the province, perhaps in a small town, and the painters were at home or whatever they were regarded as freaks. If you were one of them you were an outcast. So the best thing was to go to New York to make the marginalized along with another half a million disadvantaged. And then you were not, that becomes your community and the dominant culture. The economic conditions were different and more favorable. In those days you could live downtown, close to clubs and art galleries, in other words close to the places where the culture was being done. Club57 places like ... well in short you could afford to live there, there sopravvivevere say, in some way. Nowadays, if your parents say "ok I'm going to New York" Well you better have a good plan. And two jobs. And that there is not enough. Before you do not even need a plan ... just go there and start doing stuff. Something. Art, music, something. And this is what allowed the scene to develop in that way, because all were inspired by each other. Things also were more mixed among them, as now is that if you want to feel the dance you have to go to that place and if you want to hear jazz, you have to go in that ... also played club DJs from all over. When hip hop came in vinyl began to play what they played but also the stuff English as Slits or Gang of Four, or even American. There was no thought patterns such as "this disc can not be played here." Everything was much more contaminated.

Deiva: Ok.

Mike D: Well, things have changed. New York is always important but it is not so much any more.

Deiva: Well, back to the film. With that idea you have set out to work, you and Adam Horowitz, on the soundtrack of Basquiat The Radiant Child?

Mike D: I started with a sort of playlist of the time, during the period reported in the film I had something like 13 or 14 years already and I went to look for money in clubs. I was probably too young to be in those places! (Risate!) So we did some 'jam on that stuff, because you know there is music that you marked. I mean, I continue to hear new music, and even to appreciate it, but this music that you hear at that particular moment of your life will take you forever right? Music will always important for you, and that's what the music of that time is for me. So, with my band, we got to jam ...

Deiva: Yes, I have heard of your band ...

Mike D: Yeah, I guess! (Laughs) Anyway, you know, that time when all you do is buy records, that period when you can not consume music fast enough? It is said that music is special for everyone, but it is for me.

Deiva: and punk at the time you were doing right?

Mike D: is even. We did not do anything but go to clubs to dance or hear any group was in town. As I said, things were very mixed. And 'this is the time when hip hop was born, the time when maybe Bambaataa came to play some music, or Jazzy Jay. And mix of everything. Bambaataa was the best in this, mixava with two disks that you never thought you could go together so well! It was pure magic. However, some of the pieces begin to write with Adam ending up on the soundtrack of the film but Tamra was still looking for this or that particular piece for this or that particular scene. And it was particularly fun for us because we got to play as if we were a band of '82. We had to pretend such a thing.

Deiva: So the soundtrack does not sound like the stuff of the Beastie Boys.

Mike D: Here is a little 'as the reverse path. We have tried to recreate the sound of the band that later influenced the sound of the Beastie Boys. And it's all instrumental.

Deiva: Ok so no vocals or rapping?

Mike D: No.

Deiva: Good. How about instead of the Beastie Boys? Your wife told me yesterday that you were shooting a video ...

Mike D: Yeah I came away before to be here today, but should be ready. And then we're finishing our album. What will come out, I think, in mid-March.

Deiva: Then the video will be the first single from the new album?

Mike D: Yes

Deiva Ok.: And can you tell me the title of the piece?

Mike D: The title of the piece is "Make some noise".

Deiva: The disc has a title?

Yes, Mike D: will be called "The hot sauce committee part 2"

I looked at him strangely.

Mike D: We have already deposited the title and then go quiet.

At this time, in conversation, is part of his wife Tamra Davis, who rightly question:

Tamra Davisperchè Part 2?

Deiva: Right. What happened to part one?

Mike D: Part one is late. E 'submerged delays. And because you did not want to wait for part two, part two here.

Deiva: You will be on tour in Italy?

Mike D: I hope so!

Deiva: that the last time you were here ... I think it was 2004.

Mike D: has been a while 'time ..

Deiva: Yes, definitely too much!

Mike D: You're right.

Deiva: Ok, thanks for your time, it was an honor.

Mike D: Thank you.

At this point, it stuck out my vinyl and I ask Mike what, in his discography, his favorite album.

Mike plans to stop with the classic response: "I do not have a favorite."

But I do not give.

Deiva: I knew you'd answer something like that.

Mike D: The fact is that listening to our old stuff. When we finished a disc will not play anymore. I think the next one.

Deiva: Ok, but you ever thought something like "oh my god this sucks!" Or "oh my god this is fantastic!

Laughter in the hall.

Mike D: Well no, not exactly. Rircordi you always do what is less beautiful, never what is beautiful. I happen to think that maybe a song sucks and ask "why should we put on the disc? That song sucks. "This is such a thing, but it is unlikely that we are to have a conversation like," wow, this song rocks, or things like that. " I do not know. Maybe it's just us.

Deiva: really do not do it!? So I do.

The first record I pull out is "Hello Nasty" I personally love it. "This is great," I say.

Mike D is ...

The second is "To the 5 Boroughs," but that no one has ever conquered me completely. I try to reveal to Mike my doubts. "This is so-so." And he, as a mature artist, accepts the comment.

Mike D: In fact, we were criticized for that.

The rest of the conversation, I realize only now, it makes little sense. I love all the rest of the Beastie Boys discography obsessive level. Pass from our hands the vinyl of "Check Your Head" and "Ill Communication" but also "Licensed to Ill" ol'EP of "Root Down." all things to five stars.

The critical capacity falters.
I try to fall back.

Deiva: by the way, how's Adam? Has recovered from cancer?

Mike D: Yes, it is much better. And has since returned to full capacity with us. You know there's this French guy with whom we are working on the disc, Philippe Zdar, who is in a group called "Cassius" ...

Deiva: course, Cassius! So the record will sound like that!?!?

Mike D: No, no!

Deiva: you like the French touch?

Mike D: Yeah, but our record does not sound that way. Do not get the wrong impression ...

Deiva: Then you will be working again with Mario Caldato Jr (Beastie Boys producer of the historian)

Mike D: Yeah Mario is incredible.

Deiva: What are you listening? Your wife says you're obsessed with the Brazilian stuff ...

Mike D: Yeah, yeah, true. Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben, Os Novos Baianos know him? They did like two discs, are tropical ...

Deiva Mmm ... no. Os Mutantes And you know them?

Mike D: Member Os Mutantes! Great! I was just here to tell you a lot like the Os Mutantes, very psychedelic. When there was a dictatorship and all the others, like Gil, had to take refuge in Europe, they left in a common campaign. So I'm super psychedelic. If you go to our blog, you go back a few pages but, in short, if you go to our blog, www.beastieboys.com (http://www.beastieboys.com) there's my piece on them, I posted a video.

Deiva: always listening to hip hop?

Mike D: Yeah, no, more or less. I have the new disc from Kanye (West) you heard?

Deiva: No.

Mike D: You're right, it probably is not out yet, I still I had a 'preview, not bad. But now the rap in America, you know, it's very pop / dance, I can hardly hear it ... also listen to the radio today ... so hip hop now ... how can I say ... we understood it?

Deiva: how.

Mike D: But there are always people who make things cool. Type the disk Kanye, in fact, I never expected that I would have liked. Instead there are a few 'songs chips. Or Jay-Z.

Deiva: nell'underground you like someone? Maybe someone from New York?

Tamra Davis: I told him that we liked the Black Keys album.

Mike D: Yeah, but that's not hip hop. I like Supernatural.

Deiva: Ok, thanks again for availability. Really this time.

Mike D: Thank you.

See you at the concert by the Beastie Boys. Start looking for the ticket.Source: http://www.goldworld.it/cool-stuff/people/mike-d/?label=fb_og

I got confused because at first I was thinking Make Some Noise would have it's own video but I am thinking Fight For Your Right Revisited is the first video and that is why they are so hush hush. I am thinking it will be released to us when the Make Some Noise single comes out. Just my theory right now based on what's been going on.

Mike looks gorgeous and happy in those photos by the way. luv you Mike!!!!!!!

I read somewhere that the "MAKE SOME NOISE" video is in the fight for right re-visited video.
just after the beasties steal some beer and walk down the street where those 3 actors play ing mca, mike d and adrock lip-sync to "make some noise" lyrics.
but "too many rappers(remix)" and "say it" are just playing in the background of the FFRR video.
