View Full Version : how tight are you with coworkers?

Because I feel pretty tight, it's weird.

I'm really good friends with a couple of the ladies I work with, and a couple of dudes who don't even work there anymore. but we don't hang out socially very often. but they know all kinds of stuff about me, and vice versa.

After years of partying, I've almost literally dropped completely out of nightlife because I get better socializing satisfaction at work.

Maybe I should just make my coworkers part of my real friends...or maybe it's fine how it is.

I banged a coworker and wound up marrying her.

I get along with my coworkers and I'm real friends with the girls, especially the girls and some guys. I go out with one of the girls in a regular basis. It's pretty nice. We are like sisters. I mean. We spend 9 hours together from Monday to Friday, so it's good.

I find after I leave a place I become better friends with my ex-co-workers.

I'm friends with them now - as in unofficial work do's, random lunches, facebook friends. But my previous job co-workers of last few jobs I would class as my BFFs

I'm friends with most of my coworkers. We don't hang very often when we aren't working...which bums me out. My last job I used to hang out with most of my coworkers outside of work.

I pretty much hate all of them. They're predominantly middle aged women who are gossip hogs and love to stir shit up. Thankfully they like me because I manage to make them laugh when I'm not minding my own business to stear clear of their bullshit.

^ I worked with a gaggle of bored middle-aged bitches recently and they loved my shitty jokes and it seemed like if I didn't leave when I did I would have had a hoof reach for my cock. Says more about they hooves than it does about my jokes, trust

I'm not calling any of my coworkers all the time, but after a year and some change some hanging out has occurred outside of the office for karaoke or a birthday party. We also do coffee runs a lot together. It's cool.

Side note: only bad thing is during lunch or coffee breaks, the women all love to talk about Glee and I do not watch the show, nor did I enjoy it when I tried to the first time. So I have to nod my head and try not to cringe everytime it comes up.

It comes up a lot. Unfortunately.

The people you work with are just people you were thrown together with. Y'know, you don't know them, it wasn't your choice. And yet you spend more time with them than you do your friends or your family. But probably all you've got in common is the fact that you walk round on the same bit of carpet for eight hours a day.(y)

AHHHHHGEJHTKLADFHK I deal with the exact same issue! Most people at my work think I'm a bitch but really I just prefer internetting to almost all human contact.
I have way better ways to spend my break time than filling them with idle chatter where I'm feigning interest regarding the topic to begin with and usually feel the need to dumb down my answers as well. It is just far too exhausting.

I wish they would just put me and my computer in a closet and let me get my work done there.

HA, yes. :( I fake it just so I don't end up a total outcast I guess since everyone else at work is much older than I am and this group is the only group around my age.

Not related to work but it falls under the same description: I get stuck hanging out with the wives of my fiances best friends when we are visiting his home town. Same thing happens: idle chatter and I have to feign interest.

It feels like torture but I grin and bear it to not burn bridges and save face.

while a full time college student I also co-managed a Kinko's

I would have weekly parties and half the crew from work would show up.

we made a game of drinking and busting in on coworkers and strippers getting it on in the guest rooms. One poor kid in highscool feel in love and marred a stripper he meet at the weekly party

luckly, I never got busted in on, but I did mary one of the co-workers that I partied with in those days... but fact is partying with the crew got me in some trouble also. But fuck it ... I was making copies

I've made many close friends at work and kept them after we quit working together. But you can't be friends with the people you supervise. That's tough to get used to.

the only time i hung out with a coworker during a non-work related thing was when one of them came skydiving with me over the summer. she quit the job about 3 months later and i was in the midst of 18 months out of the office, so it wasn't like we talked about it the next day.

Most of my coworkers dont speak english very well, so its difficult to converse, but they're cool.
As for everyone else, they're all weirdos. One dude who's a sociopath, another who is a compulsive liar, another with anger management problems, another with a drug habit.
So no.

Not so much with my current work bunch but am still really close with a bunch of girls that I worked with in my first company. We all are about the same age and it was our first job after uni - we've all left the company now but still see eachother regularly. I don't like many people in my current place enough to socialise with and they're mostly slightly older with kids etc and don't have that much in common with them
