and I love what I've heard so far...except the chorus/hook line. I dunno, compared to the rest of the track it seems a little weak...flat. Memorable songs normally have a small part everyone remembers, hums or sings along too and I'm not sure about this :(
Before all you wise asses start dissing on me, I'm a huge fan, been here a fair while and read these boards daily but rarely comment. Just thought I'd express my current feelings on what we've all heard so far.
I'm hoping I'm gonna be proved completely wrong on release day though and will be buying it regardless!

Since when did we have such expert hook-writing pop-music visionaries in our midst?

Well I'd never claim to be an expert, just someone who loves music in many forms although primarily old school hip hop.
I guess I want angry, in yer face Beastie Boys of old (Sabotage, the SNL performance of Sure Shot, Looking Down the Barrell of a Gun).
As I said, I'll be happy to be proven otherwise!
These are just personal musings rather than telling other people what they should be thinking :)

After hearing the 2nd 30-second clip, I'm sold on the hook, it seems pretty damn catchy to me. Even if it wasn't, I don't think it'd hurt the song, this is more of a Pass the Mic-esque trading vocals kind of track anyway.

not every song needs to be all wordy and such, right? I think it would be pretty tired and irritating if every hook were jam packed with prose. variation is so key to keeping a record exciting, and thats what the bboys make; records, not just singles. trust me, whenever you see this joint live you're gonna be glad it's the way it is. this hook is the equivalent to "somebody say hooooo!!!!" complete with space for the audience to go fucking bananas. just wait.
all due resect, if you want to hear ill communication then put on ill communication. simple as that. let's not forget though, half of their fucking catalogue of rap songs have little to no vocals in the chorus! it's often just beat changes with voice samples and scratches. you'll be fine with this, I promise. let it happen. :)

You have to hear a cut in context to really be able to tell. That chorus (the hook is the intro, I think you were talking about the chorus) sounded a lot better in place with the other parts of the track. Pretty catchy.

I've now heard the full track and I really love all of it...still not sure about the hook or whatever you want to call it, but maybe it doesn't matter anyway.
I will listen a few more times (until the evil record companies pull it down) then buy it legit when it's available :)
BTW, at the same time as the track was hitting the Internet it was premiered by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1...I was in the fish and chip shop and couldn't believe my ears when it came on the sound system!!
