Maybe I'll change my mind after I hear the full tracks.
Also, it sounds like Lee Majors was re-vamped. Thoughts?

too many rappers is unfortunate, but fuck it.. the santigold one is great
this is completely Beastie Boys while, a departure from what they've done before at the same time
i feel like they've taken all the diversity they've put out and honed over the years, thrown it in a pot, stirred the shit out of it and made this.
zdar was definately a great choice

Bit of a shame that they are using a different version of Too Many Rappers and Here's a little something for ya doesn't sound as great as that remix making the rounds either.

Key words, man. The quality is shocking. The differences between the various states we heard of Make Some Noise come to mind.
TMR clip is first 30 seconds or so (starting about 6 secs in I guess) - sounds like it has some weird synths/fader shit (and some low in the mix fuzz bass keeping rhythm) over the top of the two drum tracks, before it goes into the hook. Off that listen, Mike D and Adam H have definitely been bought forward in the mix which makes the hook sound a little livelier. Also, the beat cuts out before Nas starts the hook. Sounds like little things to spruce it up. Drums kick harder (particularly the Mike D playing one). This is all off a couple of listens, forgive me anyone out there who wants to shit on the neck of my musings.

not even going to attempt to break any of this information down. but one thought that I had to get out is that after first listen, it kinda sounded like the santigold joint would have a been a pretty strong lead single, in regard to the general radio audience at least. it gave me the vibe that it could actually compete on the radio. plus santigold is pretty fresh right now. surprising. thats after only a single listen though, so maybe im just buggin.
im afraid to go back for seconds. my head may explode. every single jam sounded better than the one before.
oh yeah, Yauch's verse on Long Burn the Fire? mega. just mega.

I definitely think I'm going to prefer the new mix of Too Many Rappers. It's not vastly different but from this short sample, it does seem like they fixed some of the production problems I had with the original mix, especially the beat which sounds a lot thicker and more sinister here.

Based on the snippets I'm feeling:
Non-stop Disco Powerpack

So I burned the tracks to CD, and replaced snippets with full songs I already have. I am going on record here and saying I think this is their second if not very best album ever. I say second because everyone has their favorite which probably won't change. I don't have a favorite actually. I used to say Pauls Boutique hands down, but come on, they have 8 albums now and I would be dismissing a lot of other sounds and styles on later albums throughout the years.
Here we have 16 tracks that are are so evidently a culmination of 25 years of Beastie Boys style, with awesome production, slices of all of our favorite moments from their catalogue (such as the crazy bass of Hello Brooklyn song) to the "somethings got to give part 2 song, to the crazy passing the mic antics People have been waiting for, to party pumping danceable hype songs, to awesome collaborations.
And yes, I am getting all of this from my little snippet/full track CD.

NonStop Disco Powerpack - ADROCK HOLY SHIT WOW
Say It - Cant exlpain but god this track sounds good. Just pure solid Beastie rap.
Dont Play No Games - Sounds like it could be single material.
The Larry Routine - A skit or the end of a new version of B-Boys In The Cut ?
Lee Majors - Kinda wish this track didnt get released a while back because hearing this for the first time in this quality would have been a major eye opener. SUCH a good track.
Heres A Little Something For Ya - I like it, looking forward to hearing the whole new track.
Just think theres another whole album of tracks from this amazing new era !

Is it just me, or is this a 40 minute album? Rough guess based on the song times listed on Amazon. Only 3 songs over 4mins, most MUCH shorter. This is the M.O. of most punk bands, I know, Short fast and loud, but the Beastie Boys are not punk anymore. Well at least 80% of the time they're not.

The album's still about 44 minutes long, same length as Licensed to Ill and To the 5 Boroughs, so there's nothing really shockingly short about it aside from a few of the tracks being under 2 minutes.

yeah, pop your balloon was destined for ass-kicking. too bad it fell by the wayside. i dont see any reason why it wouldn't eventually be made available though, be it a bonus track, b-side, or even as a part of the fabled HSC sequel.
yeah, i know some feel there's no such thing as part one, so no need to point it out. but while it's just as likely many will never see the light of day, they did make it very clear that there were a whole lot of leftover songs from the HSC sessions.

Pop Your Balloon was a fave of mine. Damn! I miss it but I think they took it off because they wanted to possibly have it available should they decide that there will be a Part 1 at a later time. i see another album, because the initial plan was to release two-parts. i don't see why that would change. but we shall see.
i'm assuming b-boys in the cut might make it as one those bonus tracks in the deluxe package, time will tell. personally i'd like it it come out, nice track.
am very excited from these clips. i have a lot of time for TT5B but this is the opposite of the stripped down, minimalistic vibe from what i've heard. i like the changes to TMR, the song sounds a bit broader, though it will interesting to see what they've done to the versus. lee majors sounds nicely spruced up, and the beauty of it is having the original version as well.
speaking of which, i sometimes wander if there were any original part one copies pressed. could be worth a fortune in years to come.

Unless they announce it or put the shleved tracks on the next album (with their current titles) then we wont ever know. They could release a load of unheard songs call it "dave's couiture" or "sick correspondence" or "salutations horrible" and we wouldnt ever make the connection they were the next hsc songs. I just dont think they will carry on the hsc thing. there might be songs.

Well at least there's that! I actually regretted posting it, but perhaps in the long run it was worth it as the snippets got shut down. I'm hoping we get something similar to the MTV leak that happened for TT5B. A nice, calm, beastie boys initiated temporary leak. Maybe on NPR?
For the record I still haven't listened to the clips. Imma be clicking refresh on my email at midnight on the 3rd the same way I was tapping my toe in front of the record shop the morning IC came out.

i dunno Guy, i still think the more songs the merrier. sure there are some songs on those records that weren't completely necessary, but I still wouldn't a change the tracklistings if I had the choice. more music is good. even the beasties' lesser jams are solid listening in my book. less tracks wouldn't have made those albums better albums in my opinion.

Hello Nasty is as much a classic as PB and CYH are. It's such a wonderfully chaotic mess - what other album features futuristic electro rap, 60s synthesizer pop and an MCA-sung acoustic ballad? It's brilliant.

i really like HN, its the most surprising album of thiers purely because i felt it was a massive shift in sound. The punk rock had gone and MMM was in and there are some really brave tunes on there and the array of styles is to be commended but maybe there are too many spices in the soup. Where its good, its some of their best work but some just sort of washes over me. From "And Me" to NLF i think is their finest hour but that then affects the last part of the album (except for maybe Unite)It kind of peters out for me, its like 70 mins log, very tough to make an album consistently be awesome over that length.
It just seems like they are a bit more ruthless when it comes to song selection now. Some jams that may have been included havent. I feel that some earlier albums did a feature a few tracks that were just jams and maybe needed more work or didnt have enough to them to stand up against the rest of the album. there are a couple of songs i could miss on HN ,IC and CYH and i would still call them great albums.
but what the fuck do i know?

If I were to call any of their discography disappointing, it'd be Ill Communication, and that's because it's the only album they've done that doesn't do anything new, it's just a continuation of Check Your Head. To the 5 Boroughs works because it's the complete antithesis of Hello Nasty; while that was 70 minutes of pure insanity, TT5B is a back-to-basics rap album made with simple old school beats with no instrumentals or other experimental tracks to bog it down.

Add me to the LTI list. It’s timeless. And didn’t I read somewhere that it still sells thousands of copies every week to this day? I know they matured later on and got way more serious about their music but when LTI came out there was no nothing like it out there.

Good picks!
The only reason why I ranked The Mix Up higher than the TT5B is because Off The Grid is one of my absolute favorite tracks of all time. Plus the next best thing to the rap records for me personally is hearing Yauch on bass or the guys jamming out in general. I can honestly say that I love the instrumental stuff just as much as I do the vocal stuff. :D

i never play the list game, but if someone had a gun to my head to choose my favorite out of PB, CYH, IC, and HN I'd probly just have to take the bullet. it's just absolutely impossible to favor any of these over another. they're far too unique and beautiful to me in different ways.
HN was the one that first floored me; the one that 'pulled me in', so to say. so it's got a special place in my heart, but overall these 4 records are just too exceptional to compare.

Hello Nasty was a great album, and it was great that at the time it came out the Beastie Boys were the biggest group in the world... But at the same time, I dont think it was a great "era" for my personal taste. It was around this time that they started getting really into changing lyrics of songs from LTI and PB, decided for some reason they weren't going to curse anymore, and songs like Alive which has a good beat and insanely preachy/corny lyrics. I think it was around this time they started actually taking themselves seriously for a minute, and that always rubbed me the wrong way. Again, this might just be me over-analyzing them but it seemed like the only time they didn't have that "I dont give a fuck" edginess.
The guys who are releasing Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 come off as cooler guys than the ones who released Hello Nasty. "Plus I cus and I grab my nuts"...you think MCA would have dropped that line in 1998?

I don't think Hello Nasty is intentionally trying to be cleaner or more serious but it does seem like in the few years after there was a push to be a little more conscious of what they were saying, the low point of that era probably being "In A World Gone Mad". Maybe that's why To the 5 Boroughs ended up being as dirty as it was - it probably has more swearing than the rest of their albums combined.

i liked his verse in the first place, people complain about 'crack of dawn' but it's not like he's unaware it's been used. i saw it as a 'we're back' line, a bit of familiarity. that said, the new verse is cool and livens up the song we're probably all heard the most (though zdar has obviously played a huge part in that too).

The Beastie Boys are back. Not just in the sense that it's been seven years since we've heard a proper album from them (2007's The Mix-Up was all instrumental), but on Hot Sauce Committee Part 2, they're back back. While '04's by-the-numbers hip-hop disc, To The 5 Boroughs, was a solid effort, Hot Sauce has the Boys (well, men) playing with their instruments again. It sounds fuzzy, the songs are kinda rough, and there doesn't seem to be any ambition to make a hit—their focus seems to be simply aimed at having fun. It's as if the Beasties are revisiting their Check Your Head and Ill Communication days, minus the massive singles. Don't get the wrong idea, though: It's not just some washed-up old dudes trying to recreate their finer moments. The Boys sound rejuvenated, especially on the terrific "Too Many Rappers," which features Nas—it's impressive how fresh their verses sound considering how long everyone involved has been in the game. "Make Some Noise" is a grimey slice of funk that's topped with a sea of tripped-out rhymes—it'd be shocking if you don't groove to it. The song showcases their stellar musicianship too, which isn't always as noted as their vocal skills. The Beasties prove they've still got what it takes to rock the house—Hot Sauce was definitely worth the wait.

Did that guy write that review at 4 am in the morning with 2 hours sleep for the entire day. Sounds like he was just putting up a review to put up a review. I don’t mind critical with a good reason to back it up. I watched a you-tube of one guy who gave his pros and cons of Make Some Noise and I respected that and understood it. This dude just isn’t a big fan to begin with and wasn’t even gonna give it a chance. I mean their music isn’t for everybody. I would like to read reviews from folks who are more neutral and with more knowledge of the music in general.

I definitely agree with this sentiment from the review NF posted. I know people are jocking DPNGTICW as a radio smash, but I don't see it. The sample of the track is cool, no doubt, but nothing I've heard screams out single to me (aside from the DJ Shadow Dry mix of HALSFY). That's fine though.

This review is good, I really liked it. Thanks for linking it up. Obviously not everybody is as invested in the process as people who are (still) waiting out the health thing and hanging on to the hope of some good news in that regard *looks in mirror* *checks eyebrows*
It's also obvious it won't be a perfect album. I'm trying to avoid saying it, but even based on the snippets there are a couple of songs I have next to no interest in hearing. But they're probably there for the fans of the 'goofy' stuff. And so we likely have an album with something for everyone, so long as that 'everyone' has read these boards a couple of times in their lives. That's a good thing.

Well I've spent the last two days listening to TT5B and i've come to realize that the first 5 songs of that album are probably the strongest straight 15 minutes of Hip Hop the BBoys have released....
