i come from a kissy family and a kissy country. people like to kiss, and we oblige.

the unspoken rule is that while a child is still a toddler (before 3, i guess), they can kiss everyone and anyone on the mouth. after that age, and until like 9 or 10, only mom and dad get mouth kisses, family gets the cheeks. after that age, everyone gets the cheeks. the part that sucks about institutionalized cheek kissing is the bruises i develop on my cheekbones from bumping cheeks with family members. we happen to be high cheekboned. it hurts. :(
