Despite getting a big fat zilch from WHFS.com except a big tease on first signing up to be a .communist last night.
Tickets.com needs to bulk up their operations. Overload errors and even strange redirects to a Boston Red Sox page abounded.
Now if the boys don't run their mouthes about Bush all night long I'll be happy.

Congrats! I got shut out by Tickets.com - I don't think that site was prepared for the volume of traffic... I'll keep trying on HFS...
And have you listened to the new album? Of course they're going to Bush-bash!! I'm sorry that I'm going to miss it.

You know, a real fan would be happy that he get to see one of the best bands ever and grateful he was LUCKY enough to get tickets that others would kill for and he would probably be SO psyched that he wouldn't GIVE A FUCK about the Beastie Boys political associations because they don't match his own.
But seeing as how you're a big diehard fan with your entire one post, I'm sure it doesn't pertain to you. Carry on.

what the h*ll does it matter how many posts I have?..I have been a fan since 86 and thats what matters......there is no truer fan...trust me on that one
scorpio_girl
06-15-2004, 02:44 PM
Why does it matter if the person has 1 post or 10,000? Does having more posts make you a more loyal fan?
I've seen this all over this message board - come on, give us a break. I just joined, but does that mean I'm any less of a fan than you? I don't see how...
The last time I checked, the Beastie Boys weren't about excluding fans.
beastieangel01
06-15-2004, 02:48 PM
I suppose post count doesn't really matter. I don't know either of you so for all I know you really could be a huge fan.
however the guy who posted this thread only had one I was just picking that out in particular. Did you read what he even said? basically COMPLAINING about what the beastie boys talk about? and yet he got tickets? what the fuck? do you think HE deserves to go?
if so, you are a moron. if not, I'm happy you got tickets then. enjoy.
That is all.

Ok, cool. I just didn't want to be judged based on how many posts I have, or how long I've been a member. :p
And no, I didn't get tickets to the show, and it is annoying to see someone get tickets who makes comments about the boys bashing Bush. First off, you can't separate the Beastie Boys from their politics, because their beliefs are part of their music. Second, if you really love the Beastie Boys but don't agree with them, then at least respect them for their beliefs and respect their right to express themselves on stage.
Finally, that guy should just be happy he won while others of us got shut out by tickets.com and 99.1. So he is a moron. We agree.

that beastie ticket fiasco was a farce. four people on T1 connections, and the best we got was a boston red sox tickets.com "waiting room."
i speak ill of no one on V street, but tickets.com is about as technologically reliable as a three flippered mongoloid operating a Commodore 64.
interstingly enough. the people at tickets.com are currently not answering the phone, even though it's "normal business hours" for them.

dayum! i actually got one ticket. was on the beasties tickets.com link at 4:00pm on the dot, and refreshed the page for about 25 minutes. was about to give up, but finally got through!
so i guess i can't complain, but now i feel really guilty cuz i only was allowed to get one ticket, and although i'm a huge fan and the beasties' music damn well changed my life growing up, my gf is a huge fan too who knows most of their lyrics backwards and forwards. she's going to be so pissed. plus another friend who was online across town gave up too soon and got shut out of tickets.com. i'm going to feel like such an ass going to the show by myself without them.

Golly gee, folks. Talk about a ramped up anger level. I'm a moron? I need to be punched in the face? Nice loose crowd here I see!!
I know they ditched their fat gold chains for peace signs years ago. That's cool. I said, and I quote, "all night long". If I want to attend a political conference I will do that. Attending a concert, well, I kind of want to hear music. I'm weird like that. The lyrics are the lyrics. The songs are the songs. I just don't want to hear any lengthy SPEECHES :) On ANY subject matter. When at a CONCERT. The last time I saw them live was when they were freeing Tibet. So I'm not sure how much side-talking there is these days.
As far as the number of posts. Does my being new to the forum make me any less of a fan? Does it mean I haven't bought all those CDs I see over the years? Does it mean I never saw them at Lollapalooza or that I never dodged lightning strikes to help them free Tibet? Does it make you better than me, beastieangel01, that you have a longer posting history? It obviouslly doesn't make you any more adept at purchasing tickets than me. So I'll have to pass on the lovely face punching offer. I guess my second ticket won't be going your way, huh?
But I'm excited. I don't think I've hit 9:30 since seeing the Foo Fighters there. Most bands I still like are too "big" for 9:30 or try to rake you over the coals these days (Rush, Van Halen). And $15 tickets? I think I paid that for parking at this years HFStival. Props to the Boys. It's a great club, but sometimes I miss the funny smells of the F Street original :)
I plan on picking up the album on the way home. And then I'll probably cue up the videos DVD which I haven't watched in ages.

This makes me sick (ok first time poster, long time fan). I am turning 28 next week, and I remember getting my first beastie boys album. My dad was working for Capital Records at the time and they were being distributed by them. I have videos (beta) of me as a kid dancing to this. I even got a bunch of odd remix cd's and tapes.
Ok, so what would be better than kicking off my b-day week with getting beasties tix.... I cannot think of anything.
SO I have called in.... I have been (4)this morning on junks.....(7) too many times to count and a couple of 5s. What really gets me when I get in on the word "Call...." before the rest of the message and its ringing and ringing and then I get the cut off busy signal because no one picked up, thinking if it only waited a second longer, I would have been that number 9.
So I get my dotcomrade email and I got my high speed connection at work... got three browsers going and the atomic clock synced and that damn BoSox waiting room. I tried for over 30 min, and no luck... changing my number down to 1.
I need to go... any single guys want a date for thursday? I'll buy dinner and all the drinks at the show.
I even was awake for 36 hours as I stayed up and listened to my boys big O and dukes Sunnight/Monday morning.
I have had no sleep as of late. Only rest during loveline.
If I do not win tonight/tomorrow morning, I will be so crushed...
I am serious about that date. Someone has to have won and needs someone to go with. Come on, take me... I am a good date. Trust me... I got paid today... we'll have steaks and all the top shelf liquor. I can even be the driver.
I never got to see them at the Tibetan Freedom. I was in Germany, in the Army, serving for the Bosnian Conflict...
begging on knees...

Tickets.com...totally ass backwards.
HFS...ruining it once again with their gameshow bullshit.
My freind had the password running at home via ethernet, while I was scoping out the local Olssons for possible ticket action...alas, good things don't come easy.
To all the ticket holders, congrats; you'll be privy to a very special evening...

and as if your ticket would be going to me anyway. I'm not going to be kissing peoples asses that have tickets just for a chance to be their guest. Read what scorpio girl said and you'll realize why so many people are upset that retarded people got tickets and huge fans of their music missed out.

Exactly what I said when they were giving away trips to NYC to see the Beastie Boys at NYCers Against Violence. I said FUCK YOU HFS and bought tickets (lucky me), drove up there, stayed with someone I knew online, and spent way too much money and took way too much time off work but it was worth it.
Even if I don't get to go to this concert, I'll still be happy. I saw them at TFC '98 and Hammerstein ballroom and even had Mike D (http://img43.photobucket.com/albums/v131/QueenAdrock1/miked1.jpg) brush by me at HFStival 2001. Plus, they'll be around later this summer.
So screw all y'all. :)

It doesn't matter because someone else called you on it? I see. Talk about reading. I didn't pick it up until I left work. Which I also said, but you didn't read. On release day. I'm sure kids like you had it pirated weeks ago?? I dunno. Another point for you, eh?
I don't need or want anyone kissing my ass, certainly not you. My ass is a sensitive area and I prefer to keep it disease free.
So I'm retarded? Cool. Maybe I can score a Bush/Cheney shirt tomorrow from campaign HQ in Arlington. Great idea hun, thanks!! As far as being a huge fan? Guess. You're. Not. Huge. Enough. Pout.

Yeah. See, I don't like to be smashed up and kicked at my concerts and that's exactly what you get at 9:30 club. I like to enjoy my concerts rather than have to worry about being stung in the shoulder with a cigarette butt.
Plus, I already saw them 5 feet away at Hammerstein ballroom. Don't know why people weren't shoving there, maybe NYCers have more respect and class than those in DC.

Really? Firstly, that seems to be incongruous with someone sporting a "Jules from Pulp Fiction" avatar, but OK :) Secondlly, I've been to a few shows at 9:30, and there are 100 great places to watch from if you don't want to be near kicking or punching; and I never saw anything that bad anyway, but maybe it's just me. Smokes? Yeah, they do literally stink. But so what, a small price to pay once in a while. I find large venues "boring" for the most part when at great distance, I may as well just be watching a DVD with the surround kicked on. And thirdly, as far as New York. Years ago when the Orioles didn't stink so badly, I was at a playoff game at Camden Yards against NY and the Yankee fans in front of us were so rude, stupid, and in your face they were hauled off by security. But who cares about NYC vs DC, as East coasters we all need to focus on the rats in LA :)
