That was an awesome performance! I got there right on time to see them rehearse (yay for late rehearsal!) and they sounded so on point. I didn't get to see them (or Amery Smith) for too long because we had to go find our friends and wait in line, but that kept me going for the 2 and half hour wait.

My friends and I were at the catwalk area in front of the main stage and there were rumours that the Beasties would be opening but nobody seemed to know. Then Amery Smith came out and I'm freaking out, taking this to mean that they're first. Nobody had any idea who the hell I was pointing out, but they understood "Beasties are first!"

Everybody around me was all stickered up and one kid had a "Ch-Check Me Out" poster. So I was feeling kinda unsupportive, and took out my copy of Tt5B to hold up. Not much, I know, but hey, it's something. I mostly just shouted "Woooo!" until I was hoarse. (Also, I think at one point later on I told them I loved them. By name. I'm not sure why. It seemed like a good idea at the time.)

Then the Beasties came out, looking all aloof and well-groomed. At one point Yauch kinda nodded/bowed in my general direction. Realistically, I know he didn't nod at me, but I'm just going to pretend, okay? Leave me alone. I kinda started chanting "Beas-tie Boys! Beas-tie Boys!", and to my surprise the whole place started screaming it too as they did their little pyramid pose. It was really cute.

The performance you all saw- it was great. They seemed like they were having fun. I hope so, 'cause I was.

And then halfway through the show they come back on the stage to accept an award, which was a nice suprise. I've no idea what Yauch and Mike said- it was so loud. Thankfully, Horovitz made a "shhh" gesture so he could give shout-outs to Toronto, Vancouver and Regina. I thought that was due, after dissing Saskatchewan in "Hey Fuck You!"

I was too busy explaining to my friends why I was laughing at that to really hear it, but I think Yauch said they're coming back October 15th?! Well, I screamed and jumped up and down, so I hope that's what he said.

Anyways, it's too bad Yauch's too busy to read the boards, because I really do appreciate how they came up here to perform even though it meant they spent Father's Day without their kids...and...er, cats.

It is not confirmed that the B-Boys are playing in T.O. on October 15th. As Yauch said at the end of the speeches when they were accepting their 'trail blazer' award: "Le Tigre, October 15th!!" Which either means Le Tigre has an album dropping then or are playing live in T.O. then. Adrock also said: "Freckles in the house, October 15th!" during the Intergalactic performance. 'Freckles' is his girl Kathleen Hanna of Le Tigre.

See, I wasn't sure what exactly Yauch said. I heard a date, and just assumed the best.

Sure, you can put that in Beastiemania if you'd like. I was actually expecting somebody to post complaining how long that was. (And I didn't even mention the ten minutes I spent trying to get my best friend to get a picture of AWOL. "Who?" "The blonde guy in the black shirt" "Who is that?" "Amery Smith". "Who?" "Just take his picture, please!" "Where?" "Blonde guy! Black shirt! By Mixmaster's turntables!" "Who's Mixmaster?")

You know how in the latest newsletter it reads, "You'all are a bunch of savages that need to be put down with a dart in the neck"? I'm one of those people now, I know.

A few friends took pictures for me. If you'd like, once I get them all in, I can post them.

I got some pics...mind you its the best we could do during their practice, when flying teeny boppers came from all angles...as for the actual show pictures, as you can see they are hella blurry, since people were pushing and shoving my boyfriend!

That was great, the openning sequence had all the VJs saying references to Beasties songs ("Hey Ladies and all you Girls, get ready to do some Body Movin'" is what one of them said, I think) and some were more obscure than you might expect (though not obscure to any fan).
