I did this thread about a year back, and it produced some great stories from people encountering beastie boy music during various events in their lives.
E.g. My buddies and I were walking by a huge house party the other day (woulda gone in but they were at least highschoolers, grade 12's i believe), and the music was cranked from within, and all of a sudden FFYR came on, and during every chorus (you gotta fight for...) they muted the volume and everyone inside yelled the chorus at the top of their lungs (we were having a smoke across the street at a school which is how we heard all this
i was like "f'in roights"
and the otha day i was in a local pub and "girls" came on...i couldn't help but head bang along with it night at the roxbury style
When I finally met my now boyfriend in person (after months of PM's on the bbmb), we started walking the streets of the Upper East Side in NYC and ducked into a dark bar for a few beers. The minute we sat down, "No Sleep 'Til Brooklyn" started playing on the jukebox.
I heard Finger Lickin Good at some bar the other day. It was good to hear a non regular beatsie song played out and about.

i had a vivid dream last night that I was at an IC era bboys concert. it was long and I even remember part of the set list. anyhow, the moment I woke up, my beasties poster fell off the wall and landed on me in bed. no joke. weird shit.

haha yeah! it's weird, now i've heard two local pubs playing this song...even friends of mine who dislike the bboys can't help but sing along with this song, and actually know nearly every lyric to it, it gets some airplay on the local rock station as well (y)

Gotta go with when I became a Beastie Boys fan. Summer 2004. Their songs were like the soundtrack for that summer. Fall and winter too. I had some good times hearing their songs for the first time, introducing my friend to them. One day in particular my friend and I played NBA Ballers on the XBox all morning and I put on Check Your Head and Paul's Boutique back to back. I had only heard those albums only once or twice at the time, so hearing them again was still like a fresh brand new experience. I miss that time period.

I bet Beastiemania already has it ;) I dreamt twice about Mike D and once, quite recently, about MCA. He was nice all the time but then he told me to shut up and relax...

Beastie Boys fan or not, a lot of people like "So What'cha Want" too. I've heard alot of people say, "So what'cha, what'cha, what'cha want?" in the past. It's no secret where they got that from!

I like listen to Beasties' s song where I work, 'cause I look to shoppers's reactions, so I can start with my "Do you know Beasties???" or "Dig that beat, man!" and go on with my obsessive speech, if I see someone dance, or sing, or so.
Last summer I've looked for american tourists coming in my shop during all the season, to tell they "american???? oh, you're soooooo lucky! Tell me everything about having Beasties in your own country!".
Alwais there, I've knew Beasties 3 years ago, listen to Check It Out on the radio. So I bought the cd and everything has started there........

Oh well...in here there's a bar whene I go very often.. and they like the Beastie Boys so ver often they play the whole SGH album or like the first 5 songs...then when night is nearly done and they're closing the bar, sometimes I ask the last beer and the last Beaste Boys song....so the ALWAYS play "So Whatcha want" and "An Open letter to NYC" only for me :)

Actually, I hung out on the Greek Island of Tinos for a little bit, and when we went to the local hotspot there was Beastie stuff playing. All the kids loved me rapping along to Sure Shot.
