I watched the beastie boys perform screaming at a wall the other day on the sabotage home video and mike d said the song was by MINOR THREAT i've missed that before.so i've i listened to some of their songs on you tube and loved em and bought their cd.then the penny dropped about the beastie boys being fans of the band and i wish i had checked out minor threat before.
still don't like bad brains though.

I just ate some pizza. Not enough sauce but it had a decent crust. I wish I had some ranch to dip the crust in though.

I've been into hardcore probably as long as I've been into the BBoys. Minor Threat ARE hardcore! The Complete Discography CD is essential, the demo's CD is worth checking out too. Check out Ian Mackaye's post MT band Fugazi too - in particular 13 Songs & Repeater, and Brian Baker's post MT band Dag Nasty - in particular Can I Say. Incidentally Brian Baker currently plays guitar in Bad Religion.(y)

There's only one Minor Threat CD you need and that's Complete Discography. They recorded only 26 songs and they are all on there. This band is one of the most influential bands of our time and even influenced people to start a movement! not bad for only 26 songs (!)

.. not to mention just how positive the band is in Ian's lyrics!!!

Hardcore of that era, while seminal, is pretty limited. The full scope of Fugazi's work is much more interesting than Minor Threat's and arguably more influential in the grand scheme of things.

Yep Minor Threat is dope. There's also a comp pout out on Dischord called "the year in 7 inches" and that has a lot of punk in that same, fast, minute-long song, strait-edge vein.

Also check out early Circle Jerks.

Their are more than 26 MT songs out there but that CD is the perfect one to have by them,,

Yes but the Complete Discography is ALL their officially released stuff. Other songs out there tend to be live jams etc. with varying sound quality.

Skewbald is very MT (it pretty much is them), albeit only a couple of tracks released.
