the "Spiders" years

sort of, well mostly

Sup, its been a long time, been threatening to post this one for ages but my artwork dude has been busy so i had to wait

Anyways, not blessed with a massive amount of freetime today either so i'll copy and paste from the podcast blurb feel free to discuss, comment, complain out the selections etc

New mix from me featuring the works of David Bowie and what was basically the group that became known as "The Spiders from Mars" from 1970 through to 1973. There was a couple of small line-up changes over that period, the main core being Mick Ronson on lead Guitar, Trevor Bolder on Bass and Mick "Woody" Woodmansey on drums. The changes being Tony Visconti played bass on the "The Man Who Sold The World" and Anysley Dunbar played drums on "Pin-Ups".

Because my brother and sister were such massive Bowie fans I've listened to his music all my life, it's always been there. Some kids had nursery rhymes i had Hunky Dory. For this first Bowie podcast i chose to focus on the music of "the Spiders years", from 70-73 and features music from the albums "The Man Who Sold The World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, Aladdin Sane and Pin-Ups". Hopefully a mix for the avid fan and casual listener to enjoy

For anyone experiencing these sounds for the first time, good read here for more background information http://www.5years.com/spiders.htm

Anyways there'll be more Bowie to follow, and some DJ Premier and Stevie and Jimi if i get the time, but for now please enjoy.....

P.S. Thanks to Andy @ Forever Nowhere for the incredible artwork once again, check more here design goodness http://forevernowhere.tumblr.com

so back to the beats

That is an incredibly clean mix, I'm listening to it now as I download the podcast and I'll play it tomorrow morning full blast while driving up to the San Juan Islands.
