why people give a shit about this is beyond me.
i am embarrassed for anyone if they care about this unless they are friends or family of either the bride or groom.

Nah, skip that shit bro
Its between man n wife, family n friends..I personally don't give a fuck about royalty, hence my pirating ways..
The Prince of Brunei will be there. That guy has a harem. No lie! He takes the cake. What if some famous royal or invitee falls on their arse? I would hate to miss that.

Funny thing about that fam, u either love 'em or just can't be bothered. I feel if Lady Di' were still around I'd probably care more; she was quite inspirational to my mom when I was growin up during my parents' divorce. Apparently nobody ever told him love isn't real.

I'm kinda interested. DVRing it for sure.
I thought of a good idea was to host a BBQ on Friday so we can ignore this shit.
Turns out some people are interested - they wanna see the dress is the main excuse. But I'm already bored of it and I've gone out of my way to ignore it. I was reading an article on pollution in London other day, it couldn't help but mention the wedding.
I do like the 10 O'Clock Live drinking game idea though - every time princess di is mentioned you take a swig.

It will only be good if Kate Middleton strips naked and starts masturbating.
Imagine the scandal..
^the most expensive porn set ever.
Paid for by The British Tax Payers.
Actually, that might be something I'd vote for.

Diana and Charles got married on my 2nd birthday. I came home drunk around 4 or 5 a.m. the night Princess Diana died. I flipped on the t.v. and saw the reports of the accident on every station. I cried.
I'm happy that her son found a hot lady, I mean, they both seem nice enough to me, and I hope they have a lovely life. but I don't give fuck one about going out of my way to watch their stupid wedding. the fact that every american morning talk show devotes 40% of their programming to guessing what kind of dress Kate "might" wear is disturbing to me.

Seriously?
How many of those who become fans of that page actually voted in the last election? The UK Head of State no longer has any power yet not even 50% of eligible voters can be arsed to go out and vote for those who do have power for the next 5 years.
Also, there is a chance for a better voting system in a week or so and I bet that turnout is about 30%.
We're so apathetic in this country which is probably the fault of politicians but what really gets me is when I hear complaints, especially from students in my experience, about the politics of the UK yet they didn't bother voting as they got up too late, was too drunk, Neighbours were on TV.
I agree the monarch should prove their worth and that the what it costs the tax payers they should prove they are making in other ways (status, selling mugs & trinkets etc) but having someone like Simon Cowell voted for into a make believe position isn't a ego boost I want to give to anyone.

It's silly. I know, but anything that envolves the royal family is interesting because the fact that we still have kings and queens at this day, it's kinda funny and even...sweet. :D

I know students in the UK who had done more for British politics by the age of 20 than most people do in their lives. Bristol is an extremely politically charged place, it's not idle debate down there.
So in answer to your patronising question, yes I do support a non-monarchist British republic. The Royal Family are the relic of an age of superstition, oppression and imposing our way of life on others. They are dishonest freeloaders who shouldn't even be in power by their own rules.
And fuck Oliver Cromwell too.

And how exactly do you believe they can "prove their worth" at millions of pounds of tax money each year? I'm very interested to hear your plans. Or is it all just mugs and trinkets?

despite the fact that i dont give a shiny shite about the twats i dont think there is any point objecting. Some flags and banners went up at work today but i didnt see any value in complaining. The response would only be something like :"well dont take the day off work then".
I think you misunderstood. I'm more saying it's an issue that is being tackled wrong and going for the wrong outcome. I also didn't mean to patronise.
I agree the monarch shouldn't be what it is and should be in my opinion heavily diluted. That face book page wanted ANOTHER election. It's impossible to tell people at the best of times why voting for who is going to be in power is good for them yet voting for on honorary position will bring out masses? I don't have the stats but I don't think it would be too far over 50% for the amount who like that page voted in the last election and I bet some of those who didn't say they didn't because it was "pointless" or something similar.
They need to tackle it from a different way. If you have an issue that you want to be changed by law then you contact your political representative ie MP. They work for you, so use them. You may disagree with them so you contact the rivals, generally another party, bring up the issue, see who else has. Getting rid of the monarch is a better idea than changing it to someone else, we have democratically elected and accountable government (or so they tell us but that is a different issue). Adding another tier to an already messed up electoral system would be no good for anyone. People who stand for these new proposed elections will be party affiliated no doubt. You may end up with Labour monarch with a Tory government. If the Tory government wanted to ask the Labour monarch for something, it'd be more thumbs up their arses rather than just doing something. Look at America and how getting anything done there is near impossible because of their two houses. Our house of Lords of peers probably works better than that, maybe incorporating that into this proposed elected monarch system may work but to me they'd still be over complicating it.
I also said I agree the monarch should prove their worth, didn't mean to imply they did prove their worth. They don't.

"was imposed at the start of the foot-and-mouth crisis earlier this year."
that was years ago, are you sure that article is from today?
it's a paid holiday for those lucky enough to have permanent jobs - when I had my old job I wouldn't of got paid it. It's a bit of a scam for the lower end of the work force which is why there might be resentment there to.

I'm quite excited about it and am not sure why as I am generally quite ambivalent about the monarchy. My mum is Spanish and the monarchy there are pretty low key and relaxed compared to the UK and I like the way they roll.

I'm surprised at all the fascination regarding the wedding, especially in the US where it has nothing to do with them.
I couldn't give two shits about the monarchy, however I'd love to be State Governor here. In Australia, the leader of each state is called the Premier, the same role as 'Governor' in the US, and our Governor is the Queen's representative. They don't do much except cut ribbons and hand out awards, but unlike the Premier who only lives in a regular house, the Governor lives in a huge palace in the middle of the city and gets a car with pretty much the most badass numberplate ever.

Pippa is a funny name. At least in Swedish.
Howard 101 had a brilliant "Royal Waste of Time" roundtable this morning featuring Ass Napkin, BeetleJuice, Bigfoot, High Pitch Eric, and Wendy the Retard. Apparently Prince William raped Wendy. (y)

It is. But in my language "pipa" means kite, that child's play, and is also a little tonw's name. A very cute, young and full of foreigners town.
