Haven't ever really made these without the help from my mommy previously

So, these made about 18 good sized burgers (talking 1/4lb look-a-likes).

All finely chopped (I used an electric chopper) into a Wok with a bit of Olive Oil in the following order which I then was preparing the next ingredient stirring as I go.

2 Medium carrots
2 Small potatoes
3 large mushrooms
half of large onion
1 tin of drained Kidney Beans
Guesstimated about 2tbps of Worcestershire Sauce
1 Egg
Guesstimated about 50 grams of grated cheese.
(Egg and Cheese were to help it bind)

Stirred it up on a low heat and let that cool in the fridge for about an hour.

Guesstimated about a cup of plain flour, mixed that in and then with floury hands I made them into burger shapes. Put them in a hot oven for about 10 minutes and they were set. And that is the stage the picture is at.

I then put one on the George Foreman Grill - which is the test to see they'd BBQ ok in that state. Came out fine, was well impressed, didn't fall apart at all.

Side notes:
My local shops aren't amazing - I looked at recipes online and basically just found a few decent vegetables and the kidney beans could of been any pulse or bean or even rice. The Worcestershire Sauce was in place of Soy Sauce as I just prefer it. I suppose it could be made vegan getting rid of the egg and cheese, but I am not - my main goal here was to make them bind. Used the above order cus carrots take longer than mushrooms to cook for example - I'm a very throw it all into a Wok type of cook...

I'm sure this can be improved but it was a first try for a BBQ later in the week - I'm probably gonna add spices for my next batch but they wasn't tasteless made as above at all.

"I consider myself a non-practicing vegan"

Is there anything a vegan could use to make it bind instead of cheese and egg?

Sorry, didn't see your reply until the bump.

I've made more since, experimenting, not without an egg yet but without the cheese.

I think it would work but in the making the patty process make sure you're really packing them down hard so they stay together. They'll only fall apart on really dry heat anyway which is BBQ and grill. If cooked in a oven they should be fine.

Best ingredients I've found to use are leeks, mushrooms and kidney beans.

So I've been playing and I decided to not bother with cheese or egg and use corn flour instead of plain flour and it worked a treat at binding.

That'd make it vegan and gluten free (wheat freaks can have corn flour right?)

I might actually just use corn flour all the time now, seems the most simples and uses less flour overall.
