Don't get me wrong I love Mix Master, BUT I have always just preferred Hurricane as your DJ. That live version of the New Style I have circa 94 I think, is still the most played live song in my Beastie collection; Hurricane tears' those records apart and you sound amazing over his grooves. I'm certain MMM is 1000x's more proficient and skilled as a professional DJ, he might even be a better "fit" with regards to all of you and your families. Still there is something special about the Hurra/Beastie relationship and it would very cool to see him again if you do plan any support for the record. It would appear as if the new record was mostly crafted by you three, with minimal contributions from the rest of the crew, so maybe the planets have aligned again? Just wanted to share.

PS - HSCP2 is fucking awesome, it is almost everything I have been wishing for, thank you for making this so damn good from start to finish!

Thanks,

Danny

Here I thought I was the only one here who preferred Hurricane more too! I like his scratch style more. Now I am in no means an expert on this stuff but I know that sometimes I just don’t like the way MMM executes on Beastie songs. Hurricane I thing blended in with their songs better. I know the love for MMM is strong and they have a special bond with him so I really don’t see anyone else working with them on the scratch routine.

Now if that is MMM doing the scratches on Make Some Noise then I really really really like it!

Ha-ha that is some funny shit....

Only the Beasties can make a 37 year old kid write a "Dear Beastie," brown-nose suck-ass FAN letter to them for everyone to see on the message board.

Seriously though remember when Hurricane hit play on the box at the award show and they started goofing on stage in front of all the assholes errrr....”musicians” in attendance. I don't think we are in the midst of a LTI II resurgence by any means nor would I want to be, but this record is throwing out serious old school fun vibes for me. Last night I had a dream that MC Shan actually earned his freedom, Kool G never faded and was still a relevant icon in 2011, JMJ slapped the shit out of RUN to put him back on track, LL quit making records for the girls and Flav was like….”Brigitte who…?”

Ironically, Hurra's last show with the Beasties was also one of their best live performances. It was the Tibet 97 show. The first half was all hip hop and the second half was all live. The highlight was the live remix of Root Down but the whole show was stellar! (y)

I think you're talking about the '92 version from the No Alternative compilation...that shit is tight! MMM is on another level though!

Yes you should have totally gone. I've seen him twice. Recently he did a lot of stuff from napalm rockets, which I really like, but in person the bass vibrates your adams apple. Its mind blowing how awesome he is in person. He's so fast on those tables too.

The last couple o' tours with Hurricane were classic Beasties no doubt. But, when he went from 2 turntables to a DAT machine on the left and a Tech 12 on the right was the wack shit. Booooo!

His solo record on Grand Royal minus 4 Fly Guys and Stick 'Em Up was pretty disappointing as well. And the others after that were garbage.

MMM is a showman. Watch any performance of 3 MC's & 1 DJ and tell me that's something Mr. Wendell Fite could do.

LTI times Hurricane was dope... Then he kinda fell off.

I think Mix Master has been imperative for the last 10 years + in regards to the Beasties live show (obviously regarding the hip-hop cuts). They bring the best out of each other.

Dear Beasties,

Please fire your current perfectly skilled, groundbreaking and popular DJ in order to reconcile a stale working relationship with a dated Run-DMC tagalong who brings comparatively very little to your live shows and adds zero to your recorded material... but is totally rockin' and hip-hoppin' because he scratches like GMF and says things like "Yes Yes Y'all!"

Thanks,

Mid Life Crisis (age 39)

I saw mmm live last year and he blew my mind. it was such an incredible show and he's outrageously fast. My friend and i think he's some kind of prototype robot/human hybrid made in a government lab somewhere.
