From the newsletter.
Attention all you geeks, freaks, nerds, trainer spotters, and sophisticates alike: The radio station 101.9 WRXP here in NYC will be graciously hosting a "Make Some Noise" themed weekend this Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps the pinnacle of this debauched weekend will be an eclectic, odd, and at times sensually funky dj set featuring cuts of Mr. Adrock and Mr. Mike D's choosing. We sincerely hope you can join us.
The Management
* Sunday night @ 7p EST check out the album special with Matt Pinfield
* Sunday night @ 8p EST Mike D and Ad Rock TAKE OVER
* Hear Beastie Boys any time this weekend and text 'Noise' to 95902 for a chance to win a copy of HSC2
Listen live or stream @ www.1019RXP.com.

Can someone record the DJ set? I would love to have that.

I hope Yauch is doing well. He's been absent from a few of the recent sightings like that charity show at MSG, the SiriusXM pictures, and this radio dj thinger.
Get well Yaucheroo!

I've been listening since it started.
Two things jumped out at me:
1-I like Mike D's taste in music a lot better than Adrocks, who seems to be far more into the punk rock than his colleague.
2-I'm guessing since its a rock station they aren't letting them play hip hop tracks.
edit: That Le Tigre/Bikini Kill/whatever song was fucking awesome. Wish they would have said what it was called after it was finished. I wasn't paying attention when they were introducing it.

I came in about a half an hour late (had to put the kids to bed). Mike just played Cat Stevens, which is way cool. I hope some awesome fan is recording this...

Le Tigre "Deceptacon"
I've learned since djing the various dive bars/etc in my hometown since 2007 that this song seems to bring out all the hipsters to the dance floor. It's like a swarm of bees in I'm cooler than thou clothes.

Yeah I hard it a little whie ago. Well they didn't compliment the rapper himself. Just the song and beat. Considering he has ghostwriters (uncredited people who write his songs for him) and producers Lil Wayne getting props is actually a bunch of other guys getting props.

We all have different opinions. Whatever makes you like him, anything or anyone as long as you are honest to yourself and legitimately enjoy it/him/her than that's your thing. I legitimately don't like Lil Wayne's fake lyrics (that he didn't even write), annoying flow, his producer's beats and just his fake image. I sense no soul or even care for music when I hear to those kind of rappers. That's because they want fame, money and club hits.
I'm not required to pretend to enjoy it so that I fit in or don't seem "open minded". I'm extremely open minded. If Lil Wayne made an awesome song(even if he wasn't involved in the creation of the beat and lyrics) I would like it and not hide it.

Lil Wayne is more about self image then he is about the craft. That's my take on him. I always think about that interview Yauch did during the uh Mix UP era. They asked what he thought about this generation of rap fans. He said they don't need us anymore, they have Lil Wayne... Joking or not I hope Yauch really doesn't feel that way because WE NEED U Beasties. And that's it that's it that's all there is. :p

"We're fans of Cheech and Chong and we're also fans of some of the other things Cheech and Chong are fans of" - Mike D.
Was he referring to basketball or weeeed?

I personally am not a fan of Wayne at all...
But, he straight up murdered that 6'7" track.
Anything else of his I have no interest in.
But, that joint is banging.
