I'm with all of you, the system is fucked. Deluxe package buyers should get the CD immediately digitally not have to wait for it to be shipping while all the regular shmucks can go down to their local CD store and get it before all us die hard Beasties fans.

Im from New Zealand, and now have to wait like two weeks to get the album, when its already at our equivalent of Walmart (JBHifi).

Im pretty pissed off, I dont support illegal downloading and really didnt want to have to download the album. But I may as well do it, I've already payed $130 NZ and want to listen to the album at the same time as all my fuckwit friends.

It appears that they will actually have to wait until the release actually arrives (with the download card) to download the full album and 2 bonus tracks which are part of the Deluxe Edition. To compound the annoyance, orders placed for the Deluxe Edition placed after 4/19 will not ship until July. So anyone who spent $90 USD thinking they were going to be able to get FLAC versions of the songs at midnight are looking at purchasing the CD through a retailer to get them in full sound quality. Bummer.

This is shit and unhelpful of me to say but we all had the opportunity to contact topspin prior to making our orders to confirm the configuration.

That said, it does look like it offers a download on the release date, I agree. I would read it Digital Download Card (as in a digital code medium that gets you the album on release and looks like an emailed 'card'), rather than Digital Download Card (as in a little token that will arrive far too late to add any value). There shouldn't be the ambiguity, but I don't blame the band themselves.

In any case I'm not downloading the movie (would download the music video edit if possible), just interested in the vinyl, the shirt, and an unopened CD copy.....would have enjoyed some digital downloads in the form of the b-sides but fuck it. Sunk my money down the drain by ordering after a couple of ales. :o

Bands such as Radiohead who put together vinyl packages that people can't possibly receive on album release day typically send you the download link via email when the album releases. In fact, they send the download link a couple of days early via email just because. In fact, they send you bonus tracks out of the blue via email because bastards are selling the two song 12" on ebay for $125. But Radiohead appears to be in charge of their operation and most bands farm it out. I doubt that anyone thought this through and given that I've heard the album for free many times because of the band's MSG thing and them streaming it, it's not a big deal to me personally. I've got an enormous amount of goodwill this morning.

In the box was 5 pieces of paper with download codes. None of them worked. The same happened to my friend as well.

I coped the CD this morning from best buy for 10 bucks, my 15 year old niece will get this and will be forced to like it!

Let's stay patient friends. I don't want to short the team on their execution for this release. Its been virtually flawless...April 2011 will be remembered as a time warp back to the days when i used to sweat new album releases for months. The build up to this has been a multimedia success...

Good point. I think this is also why everyone assumed it would be an instant download.

I received the same thing. Kinda seems like they just ripped the CD quick and zipped it up. (One of the tracks was numbered wrong, not much information was entered, no artwork or anything like the re-releases), but it was a nice gesture all the same. Hopefully they will do something more like the re-releases for the actual final digital download. (and have the bonus tracks!)

Did they really expect those who paid $90 for the deluxe edition but missed the Apr. 19 deadline to wait until July to hear the album?

This temporary link better not replace the proper, high quality download when the full package arrives.

Why would they not send the download card early, like last week and simply not make the download link live until today? Or even better, send the download codes by email.

I agree....Like I said before, the download information should have been sent (mail or email) so that on the 3rd, people who preordered could download EVERYTHING (Album, B-Sides, video). Waiting for a card to show up in the mail at some later time (which we don't even know, could be weeks) is dumb and just makes no sense. It kinda punishes the ones who ordered the album directly from the Beastie Boys, which in many cases would be some of their biggest fans. I don't get it.

I am glad Topspin got back to me, but it seemed half-assed and kinda like "You complained, so we are gonna do something, but we won't admit that this was a bad idea from the beginning".

Believe me, it pissed me off when my friends all bought it off Itunes last night/this morning for $14.99 and got the video, whole album and b-sides, and I spent almost $100 directly from the band and didn't even get to download the album. It is a crazy world.....

Yeah I've tried to use my least complaining tone, but I was only interested in the digital download aspect of the deluxe package because I understood it to have the bonus tracks. If not, it adds absolutely no value to this exercise and is pretty cunning.

Sorry what's a lossless dl?

Lossless is the quality of the audio file. mp3's are compressed files so mp3 audio files are not as good quality as the audio files on a CD. It's called lossless because the files are not compressed at all and are the same exact quality as the CD. People want a lossless download for their purchase to get the 100% quality of the album.

You can rip a CD into a lossless audio format such as Flac, WAV, Apple Lossless or WMA Lossless but since they don't have the CD yet they want a full quality digital album. Plus I'm assuming they would get Lossless versions of the bonus tracks which are impossible to get anywhere else since they are not in any physical form.
