I would suggest a 1200, but those things have gone up in price 100%
alternatives (if decent enough to handle rough handling during djing) would be a stanton or numark.

THIS I can definitely help with.
First things first - what's your budget? What do you want to use the TT for? DJing or just listening and playing records at home?
Forget the Stanton and Numark. If you want a DJing type turntable the ONLY choice is the Technics 1200. If its just for playing records at home though, then the market opens up a bit. Rega decks are made in the UK, been around since the 70s and are a very reputable brand. They will also hold their value far more than cheap shitty decks should you want to sell it in the future.
The Rega RP1 is their entry level, its a new model that only came out a few months ago and its considered a big improvement over its predecessor. Then the models go up, the P2, the P3-24, P5 etc.
A slightly less of a good choice but still a good table the is Pro-ject Debut III. They have a bit of a following in the States. I'd still pick a Rega over a Pro-ject though because of aftermarket mods/parts for the Rega and resale value. And sound quality of course.

so..
my girlfriend ended up getting me a TTusb Numark turntable for my birthday.
I don't want to open it yet in case I want to exchange it or send it back.
I saw both you guys mention Numark, do you own one, are they deece?
This one can convert records to mp3s, however I do not have many records. Most of my music is already in mp3 form already.

I have a Numark Mixtrack Pro and it's pretty good. Many people will slate anyone who goes for an MP3 controller rather than CD/vinyl turntables but for the sheer convenience, mobility and price it's definitely the way forward.
