I LOVE EVERY TRACK ON THE NEW ALBUM,BUT I WOULD PREFER THE OLD VERSION OF TOO MANY RAPPERS TO BE ON HSCPT2.
I DONT THINK THE RHYMES FLOW SO WELL ON THE NEW TUNE.

i don't mind the new one. whether or not it's because i'm so used to the old one, it sounds like a remix, nothing more. i know it kind of is, but you know what i mean.

the new one sounds better - production-wise. but i prefer the old one, a cleaner version of that would have been the ticket but what can you do.

as for the rhymes, i have no qualms with either. i never had a problem with mca's or the king's versus in the first place. that said, yauch's new verse is on fire.

but overall, it's the original for me. it's got a fucking beat, as opposed to 'sounds' which are kinda cool, but which overall detract from the rhymes and the best thing about the tune, those drums.

i dont have any problem with the new lyrics and the new sound is right up my street. Adds a lot more venom and energy to the thing.Plus i doubt the instrumental of the original would have sounded half as good as backing for the "old-school throwdown dance contest from the future"! And i like all the echoey bits

It might be because im used to the old one but I like it better. The new one is definatly cook with the newer sounds an all new but I liked the basic verse for verse rapping an not so much all over the place. Kinda dont know when which rapper comes in now but that just takes more listens to get used to it. The new version instrumental on the Fight For Your Right thing is perfect though.

I prefer neither version. I feel that it is one of the weakest tracks on the new album. It should have been cut because it was already released once before and Pop Your Balloon should have replaced it.

I enjoy both versions. I've never loved a snare more than in the chorus of this song.

I do tend to lean to the first version as the latest version leaves me a bit seasick from the cut up phaser and the snare is farther back in the mix.

Seriously...that snare xoxoxoxxo...

It took me a couple listens to acclimate my brain space to the new mix, but I really dig this version now.

I like the beat of the new version for sure. It's pretty bangin'. It's just harder to hear the lyrics. The voices get lost in the mix since the beat is over-powering. The old version was cleaner and more stripped-down.

really i like both versions, but i prefer original version, than the new one... :)
although instrumental of new reactionaries version for TMR right now is more hot:eek:
My offer is for Beastie Boys to make next official single of Too Many Rappers with both version, both instrumentals, both acapellas and add a couple of unreleased materials ... maybe Bundt Cake for all diehard fans and something else...

I like the new one better. It builds to the hook more so that when that dope bassline kicks in its more of a treat. I liked MCA's older lyrics better but on the whole I like the "new reactionaries" version better, whatever that means.

True that, I wanna be able to hear there perfect voices in full force.

Worst song on the album? Really? Man when they played this live at Bonnaroo and announced Nas and then Adrock drops that "oh my god just look at me, grandpa's been wrappin since 83" line, everyone in the audience just looses their mind, you can tell they're just blown away, laughing crying and jaming away and screaming all at the same time. You hear so many distinct, "HOLY-FUCK-IS-THIS-ACTUALLY-HAPPENING?" gasps all at once it's just...insane. It still kinda gives me goosebumps just picturing being there.

Post counts should have nothing to do with the validity of someone's opinion.

yeah, it's a perfectly fair point to feel a track shoulda been dropped. i'm the opposite. b-boys should have been added!

I definitely prefer the newer version. To me it comes a lot harder and has more of that “ROUGH” that I love from my Bboys. Not to say the other one was crap because it wasn’t. It was good, but this one is heavier. I like Heavy!

Just because I only have 14 posts doesn't mean I don't have the right to express my opinion. Much like it is my right to express that I think you are a douche. You joined the boards one whole year before me and have more posts than I do. Do you want a round of applause for being able to troll the boards more than me?

I have been listening to their shit since the year you were born, have all the albums in multiple formats, paid for tons of bootlegs of them before broadband and .mp3 were widely used, and have been to a half dozen of their shows since I learned to drive. I love them to death and they are by far my favorite group of all time. If I feel the need to comment or ask a question, I will.

And so what if they played it 2 YEARS AGO. Who cares about the reaction then? Sure, people went nuts for it...because it was new. Hell, I liked it when I heard it then. But then it wore off and I am over it now. They have stronger tracks on the album (including Pop Your Balloon).

I never said they didn't have good rhymes or references in the song (The J.J. Fad ref blew me away the first time I heard it), but the sum of its parts does not make it their best track.

I much prefer the new version. I didn't like the mixing of the original - the vocals sounded too dry. but don't you think the long intro adds a little epic into the track?

Mmm, I like both versions.

I'd say I prefer Yauch's old opening verse, but I prefer the new sound on the reactionaries version.

Whatevs, good track.

I love the music from the new version, but I miss Yauch's opening verse...best part of the song for me... 80s, 90s, 2000s and so...

I like both versions but I like MCA's opening line on the first one better.. I like the Max Tannone Remix even better..

I don't think "Pop Your Balloon" should have replaced it.

Their are a few clunkers on the new CD and I think the track order should have been a little different (as I mentioned before).

Is this even close?

Old one may have been my least favorite Beastie effort of all time.

I sort of enjoy the new version. Thats gotta be the grand daddy of all upgrades!

^exactly why i didnt listen to any tracks for the past 2 years.

i heard it right when it first came out, along with lee majors, but didnt download them and listen to them after that. i didnt listen to any leaked songs or the preview. hit up the amazon.com preview snippets once. even tried to limit my make some noise hears, hit up the passion pit remix when i was craving some bboys.

i didnt want 3/4 of a new album nah mean son?

safe to say im glad i did!!!

i like the new version better btw.

actually now i think about it i do prefer yauchs original verse. It makes a lot more sense and fits nicely with ad-rocks. But the new version still rocks a lot harder

If the old version was on the record I'd skip it when it came on.

I like the new intro, and the mix better than the O.G.

In fact when I played the O.G. version in my DJ sets I always played the instrumental because it sounded better (in me own opinion) than the version with lyrics.

MCA's old first verse wasn't up to par. Lazy lyrics and half-hearted delivery. He sounds more convincing trying to one-up foes when he barely acknowledges them with a Blade Runner reference aimed over their heads. Looser flow, almost Year and a Day-ish (almost, nerds).

Funny thing about the musical elements is that there is one less element in the new version since it's just the synth, and what I assume is Adrock's fader work (reminds me of the Gala tour Jimmy James, I'm probably wrong). All up a more satisfying motif for me, atonal and warped just the way I like it. Good work on the New Reactionaries. (y)

Oh and the kicks. Kicks are to New Reactionaries as Snares are to O.G

well it looks from the POLL the beasties made the right choice on the remix and that's what counts,I just was wondering if I was the only one that prefered the original mix.

That's exactly what the beginning is for me, epic. Right now, turn it up the loudest in my car. More badass.

There's no option for loving BOTH?! 'Cause I do! How am I supposed to choose between Yauch's old verse vs. his new verse, really? :D
