the cars first album was so fucking tight and well crafted. i fucking love it. i don't really like that 80's synth bullshit they started to venture into afterwards.

but that first album. fucking perfect.

agreed - The Cars is the only album from The Cars one needs.

Now if the Talking Heads were to do this (y)

but unfortunately I fear there is too much bad blood (n)

Their first album is a masterpiece but I think if there's one definitive Cars record everyone needs, it's the Complete Greatest Hits. Once you've listened to the 20 songs on that, there's no way you can deny that the Cars crafted some of the best pop songs ever.

The new album is definitely no classic but it's a nice nostalgic throwback. I love how unmodern it sounds, it feels like they're picking up exactly where they left off. Ric Ocasek's sneering vocals haven't aged a day.
